The lazy dog days of summer……
August 1st, 2010 - 12:12 pm KY Time
Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Lazy Day Lovers……Welcome to August fellow basset hound town residents. The last month of summer. We here at basset hound town headquarters are ready to say good buy to summer. August is so slow. August is so hot and that makes us move so slow.
The Mayor lingers longer….
Oh the heat…..
He did what he had to and got back into the AC.
More Lazy Days of Summer later…..Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma
We can understand. It’s predicted to be 100 today and tomorrow here in south east texas. Then it’s supposed to “cool” off to 98 but then the humidity comes back so it’ll feel like 108! Poor Ronald works on cars in a hot garage. I don’t know how he does it.
When I’m outside cutting the grass, the dogs start out there with me. Then not even half way through I look back, and everybody is gone. They’re all in the house! We’ve got cool sheets on everything and that helps. Water is freshened more often. It’s just miserable.
I agree – I hate August. Although this year – it was hot and humid all July. I hate this summer as much as I hate the cold winters – still feel like a prisoner in your home.
The good news is, these days, you can blink and it seems like a month has gone by.
Last Thursday, a friend of mine sent me an email saying that there were 144 days until winter.
Summer has gone by quickly, and back to school and Labor Day sales are on.
When I was a child, we all went back to school after Labor Day, but now students are going back to school on August 25th. The baseball season was also a lot shorter. I seem to remember the finals in September.
I curious, approximately what do your electric bills run in the summer? I do my own version of the budget and start adding extra money to my payment in March or April, this helps keep my electric bill consistent about $35-$40.
My electric bill in the summer is approx 160 dollars. But, I work out of my home. I also keep it cool, not freezing but at about 74 degrees. I can always tell if I have to turn it down because Chaps will go and lay by one of the vents waiting for it to kick on. That is a sign to me to get up and turn it down a notch. A hound must have his comfort. Especially when he works so hard for the town. hehehe
My electric bill hits a high of around $230 in the summer time. I have a newer home (2003) and it is well insulated. I think my bill is so high due to the doggie door letting hot air in and cold air out. I recently added a small 5,000 BTU AC to the doggie room. We were keeping our house at 77 during the day for the dogs to stay cool. Now that we have that AC we turned it up to 79 while we’re at work and I only turn it down to 77 when I get home. I’m hoping it doesn’t hit $300 this month! My sisters bill hovers around $700 a month! That would be because of 5 kids running in and out. I think I’d rather have my 4 bassets!
