Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and can’t stand the heat lovers….
OMD, it has been insanely hot in basset hound town. The heat indexes are roaring into the 100s and the hounds are as sluggish as the humans. We are so over summer. The Mayor is so funny, he comes in from the outside….
and heads right for the bathroom to lay on the cool tile floor right next to the AC vent. It is so funny. The vent is right next to his right side. He goes right side, half belly up. I love AC!
Our Mayor is so smart, and cool, in more than one sense of the word!

Such a smart mayor. Too bad all of our public officials aren’t as smart and practical.
It’s even been hot way up here, but nothing compared to what all of you are experiencing.
Ok,OM…what’s hot up in the UP?
We’ve had our heat index go up to 108 several times this week. The temps are in the upper 90’s from 96 to 100. This is a record breaking year for everybody I’m sure.
So, what are some of the temps everybody is seeing and where are you from? I’m in a small town in Southeast Texas, Santa Fe. South of Houston.
Cindy – it’s hot for UP here, but not for what the Southern parts of the country are seeing. Matter of perspective I guess. Our heat indices have been running about 88 degrees, which is a lot for here.
The Mayor really is cool. Smart too.
My sheltie lays on the kitchen floor with belly turned to the fan I leave there for her.
Cindy, I’m in Lake Dallas, 25 miles north of Big D. We’ve had 100’s the past week or so. Cut my grass tonight after sun was behind the trees. Started on the east side of house where shade had been for awhile. Still hot though. Next week we are supposed to be only in high 90’s! Oh a cold snap!

It was 93 here yesterday, this morning 70 BUT with 100% humidity….that’s what makes it so uncomfortable. The hounds are all nap aholics. The husband says they are the power nap champions, of the world! We are in WI
I have no tolerance for this weather. The radio said this morning that this was to be the worst day of summer so far, and they were warning people not to over exert themself. No matter what I do, I still feel like I am on the wrong end of deodorant commercial. Even if I outside for 5-10 minutes I always feel like I would to jump in a cool shower.
I didn’t realize you were in TX Mary! Cool! It gets very hot in Dallas area too.
So, how is it out there in other areas of the U.S.? I KNOW there’s more than these few people that read this blog. Is there anyone out there below 80? I’m curious!
In southeastern PA it’s a little unsettled today, only in the 80’s but still a little humid, not like the last few awful days, though. My neighbors are in Maine now and when I spoke to them last week it was 75 in the day and 50’s at night–perfection, for me:)

I was in South East Minn. on Monday to see the daughter and family it was 101 in the shade. Poor girl is due to have her first baby and she looked so miserable. Its either way to hot or pouring buckets of rain. I would love a day with temps about 80 and not sticky. Sigh….
Oh WOW Wanda! Does is usually get that hot in Minnesota? I thought the only place it got in the 100’s was south Texas and Florida.
