Oh no! Emma’s patty got well done today!

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Patty Lovers. Well, today Emma went out to lay in the sun which I should have never let her do. It was just too hot. Grandma was in the basement and saw her laying on the hot pavers and and hollered up to me, “Get Emma inside now, her patty looks burnt!”

Sure enough the patty was beet red. Grandma grabbed some cold rags and placed them on the patty and her pits.

Then we laid the cool rags on her body which was burning up.

She was really, really red. Turns out she just had a pretty bad heat rash and after we cooled her down her patty came back to near pristine state.

Boy did I get a long ear full from Grandma. That was too close for comfort.

More keeping a better watch later. Cat, Chaps and Emma

Boy oh boy do hounds love to lay in the sun. Bumper goes out and will find the smallest ray of sunshine and the perfectly position his large body in the sun. He will do this on the hottest day too. Finally he comes in and heads to the water bowl. Emma’s patty is so very fair I can see a sunburn waiting to happen. Lets keep her patty nice and pink! Thank dog grandma came to the rescue.

Slinky loves to lay in the warm sun by my balcony doors, but she has never gotten burnt.

Glad to hear Our Emma was not severely hurt, maybe a nice cool bath would be a good idea.

Zeke will sometimes get a mild sunburn on the top of his head! His fur is very fine there and sometimes he stays out a bit too long, wrestling with Pupzilla. Most times he is not much for the great outdoors and prefers his soft blankets in the house. The others are not too affected, but they are more for the great indoors as well. Thanks to your Mom for bringing in Emma before she was cooked!

My Oz is realy light complected but has quite a bit of hair on his belly so maybe that’s why he’s been ok. Mine love to bask in the sun too. Wonder how they can stand it?

Poor Emma. But it looks like she’s eating up all that attention! Too funny!

Lulu is black but sure has a pale patty. It always gets burned even when its not too hot. Its sad for us because then she doesn’t want her patty pet!

Hope Emma’s patty turns into a nice even tan… 🙂
