3 Days Until SPA Day…………

August 24th, 2010 - 9:09 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and SPA Day Lovers….

OMD – Howl many ways can I tell you howl I hate SPA days for the Hounds? It might be the worst days of my life. I am just being honest. I hate, hate, hate it. I am such a putz.

So, I am trying to hype myself up. Today I took my furminator to the park in an effort to prepare for SPA day.

All of the white fur balls are just the first pass of the furminator. I have about 4 more furminator passes to go….

IMG_8998

I feel awful, I need to do SPA days more often. It’s not just washing the hounds it is also washing the home…I hate deep cleaning. I started today. Slobber off the wall and all…….

More reporting on SPA day later….Cat, Chaps and Emma

I am your Mayor, Chaps Rudert…..

August 22nd, 2010 - 8:08 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Mayor Lovers…

Today I was sitting at the dining room table going through some bills. Of course I had my camera near by. Chaps was laying in his office, the kitchen. I was staring at him, thinking howl handsome he was as he slept. Such a grand, gentle hound. He just makes me smile.

Then he looked up as if he felt my stare.

IMG_8959

Or maybe he felt my sigh……Just another moment in time. A moment of love. Or as my Dad would have said, a moment of hunger! LOL

More moments later….Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

LQQK at this beautiful picture I just ran across of our Chloe!

August 22nd, 2010 - 7:07 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and remembering Chloe Lovers…..

I was just looking through my IPhotos for pictures that I am turning in for the 2011 Sr. Hounds Abound calendar! This is the picture I picked for 10-10-11. That will be Grandma’s 81st birthday!

dedication Chlo

Chloe was such a great hound. She had the cutest little spot of white fur right on her left haunch area. We used to call her little cotton tail.

More loving memories of our Rama hound, young Drama hound later….Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

The black bandanna, part 2, the finale!

August 22nd, 2010 - 6:06 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and wanting to hear the black bandanna finale lovers…..

Remember I said I was going to trash the black bandanna? Well, I forgot, that is until Emma reminded me. Emma has something we call the drip bark. We call it that because it is like when a water facet drips. DRIP, DRIP, DRIP……

When Emma does this bark we all know that she wants something or wants something moved. When I hear it I rush to her side.

This is Emma drip barking…

This is me rushing to her side…..But Grandma beat me!

IMG_8967

Wait, What? Emma is drip barking at the dreaded black bandanna! Grandma heard it too and came out the garage door.

IMG_8971

Gotta love a Grandma….

Then Chaps came running over. “Get that thing outta here, stay away Emma…”

IMG_8977

She must have listened because right after that she left the scene.

Bye Bye Black Bandanna….

IMG_8979

FINALLY……

IMG_8980

More drip barking later….Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

The Mayor was almost 100% until the black bandanna – YIKES!

August 22nd, 2010 - 1:01 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and almost 100% lovers…..

Well, this morning Chaps, Emma and I were having a special love in session and things were almost back to normal. The Mayor even went to his toy pile and gently pulled his favorite toy out to nibble on.

IMG_7923

While he was enjoying his morning I went back to hose down the back patio so I could try to rid the place of the dreaded other hounds smells. I know, I know, that is next to impossible.

So, I let the Mayor out and he was on a mission.

IMG_8935

He ran to the fence line first and then abruptly headed for the lounge chairs….

Within seconds of running out he did this….

IMG_8938

Then this……

IMG_8937

Then I got this dirty look…..

IMG_8939

Dang….I took Stewie’s black bandanna off because I did not want it catching on anything.

I had a lot of explaining to do and a batch of tater tots to bake. Oh, and one black bandanna to throw away!

More almost back to 100% later….Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

Stewie says, “thank you” to bassethoundtown….

August 21st, 2010 - 11:11 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Stewie Lovers. I had to share this series of pictures of Stewie saying, “thank you” after we pulled into BHT yesterday. This is what he did as soon as he arrived….

He jumped right into my lap!

IMG_8857

Then he went belly up for Grandma. It is amazing every hound around always goes belly up for Grandma….

IMG_8848

Then all of the thank yous came pouring out…..

IMG_8875

“Am I dreaming?”

IMG_8876

“Can life be this good?”

IMG_8878

“Ahhhhhhhhhhh……..Life is good!”

More thank yous later…..Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

I am a tattle tail! I told on the Mayor!

August 18th, 2010 - 6:06 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and not tattle tail lovers….

Today the weather was so great that the kids were outside a lot. I think that dog door got a run for it’s money today!

IMG_4616

No humidity and no vial beating oppressive sun shine. So, being the helicopter Mom I am I was checking on the kids constantly.

I have to be honest, one of the reasons I check so much is because Chaps likes to feast on Grandma’s green onions.

This is Grandma planting her onions earlier this summer….

IMG_6521

Chaps has been obsessed with green onions ever since!

So, I decided to tattle on Chaps and tell Grandma that her Grand dog was back at it and she should go ahead and harvest them RIGHT NOW!

I went out front because I heard her watering our plants and what do I see in my front yard?

Abby Alessandro, of Judy, Bumper and Abby. Remember, she just had a large tumor removed from her side? Well Abby was coming back from the vet because she had her stitches removed. The tumor was benign BTW….Thank Dog!

IMG_8801

I cannot tell you howl happy I was to look out of my front window and see this precious little girl enjoying my front yard. Ahhhhh, life is good! I was kissing, and kissing that chop! What a great way to take a break from work.

But before all of the kissing I had to tell on Chaps. We all knew he was not noshing on the onions at that point because he was in his worry bed, at the front window, crying and pawing at the window….”Mommy, oh Mommy why are you kissing that strange hound?”

Not only did he endure his Mommy kissing a little girl hound but he got told on! Grandma dashed to back and pulled her coveted crop!

IMG_8804

All in all a pretty good haul.

More pretty girls and pretty onions later…Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

Made my day:)

August 17th, 2010 - 6:06 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and making your day lovers! Today Grandma and I made plans to go to AAA to pick up some major travel stuff. OMD – I am sure many of you know that if you are a member of AAA you can go in and get books, maps, and advise about any trip you are taking. We left with 6 books and about 12 maps regarding VA and the Blue Ridge Parkway. As we were talking to the travel expert I heard a little girl, outside of the building screaming…”It’s the basset lady, the basset lady, the basset lady!”

The little girl and her Mom saw the Basset Hauling Vehicle – Howl can you miss it?

img_2217

img_2225

The little girl was adorable. She had on a purple bathing suit complete with a purple cast! Turns out she fell off the monkey bars. Also, turns out Chaps and I had done a Lily book reading at her school!

Oh the fame…….

More loving being called the Basset Lady later….Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

Meet the newest HoPper – Chloe!

August 16th, 2010 - 7:07 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and newest HoPper lovers! Chloe is a very tiny, skinny girl but the sweetest little bug, ever! I posted her story as a note on House of Puddle’s Facebook page, which I believe you should be able to access even if you don’t have a Facebook account

http://www.facebook.com/notes/house-of-puddles/our-next-hopper-chloe-a-very-sad-story/453923730158

image

Look at how skinny she is.
image
You can see how petite she is next to Buttermilk, even though she’s lying down.
image
This poor girl lived outside on a chain. Her left hind leg was broken some time in the past and never fixed so she can’t walk on it. But she does use it a little for support when she goes to potty and to help her up the step to the porch. She can get in and out the doggie door OK, with a little struggle at times. But she doesn’t let that bad leg slow her down much. She follows me around the house and in the yard, even tries to run with the other hounds.
She came with a $1,400 vet bill that BROOD paid for Chloe’s spay, hernia repair, leg x-ray, HW test, dental and medications. I just made a personal donation to BROOD to help pay for it, via Jodye & Peter Roebuck’s Firstgiving page (Peter transported Chloe to HOP). If you can, please make a small donation to BROOD to help pay this huge vet bill.
