Tuna fish sandwiches and a tank of gas:)
Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and road trip lovers….
This morning we were blessed with an abnormally nice August day. We are a pack that can take advantage of a nice day on a moments notice and take advantage we did! Grandma whipped up the tuna fish sandwiches and I tanked up the basset hauling vehicle! We headed out to one of our favorite parks (AJ Jolly) which is out route 27 and becomes important later….
We wanted to check out the camp ground and found our almost perfect spot to dine!
This is an actual campsite. You can see the next site over where the picnic table is. It is really cool. We loved it! I kept thinking that it would be so cool for a group of basset lovers and campers to spend a weekend here! I say almost perfect because I found the perfect camp site.
See it right behind Grandma. It is PERFECT! The ideal setting. Wouldn’t it be cool to get a bunch of these small campsites and have a basset hound hootenanny? They are all cloistered pretty close and in this particular area one of the sparse bathrooms is pretty close. I felt like someone staking out our claim! hehehehe
Then we pressed on via route 27 South. Remember I said this would make a difference later? Well, we quickly discovered we were on the route of the longest yard sale in the world. It happens every year but neither of us have ever been on it. Here is a map I found on line.
Check out the very tip of Northern KY, that is where we live and where the longest yard sale in the world starts. It is about 10 minutes from my home. We were excited to travel for a few hours and do some shopping but the pickins’ were slim and the travel was slow!
It is tobacco harvesting time in Kentucky and the air is thick with the smell. Nice to have this guy turn right!
We were on the hunt to find a place to pull over and take a walk. Like a small city park. We just could not find one. Since we had the kids we really did not want to get out for a yard sale card table on the side of road selling plastic baby toys or rusted shovels. So we turned around to head home.
We may not have stumbled upon a yard sale find but we stumbled upon a real estate find! I was traveling the speed limit with a big black pick-up truck barreling on my butt as I glanced to the right and saw the for sale sign in the front of an aging Cynthiana, KY estate/farm. I let the too much in a hurry black pick-up truck pass me. As the truck roared passed I had to laugh at the larger than life decal on the back window complete with a gun rack. It said, “SPOILED ROTTEN”! Where do I get me one of those decals? hehehe
I turned around. I had to go back to the aging estate. The kids had to tinkle!
It looked like the perfect spot to stop and a place to walk the kids and get them some water.
It was really run down with an old broken down 70s Mercedes parked in the side yard. It was kind of spooky. You could tell that in its day someone was very proud of it. The eves were broken and the roof looked like it would leak. We saw a huge crack in the outside molding. The paint around the windows was flaking off in sheets. The landscaping was trying to grow up into the windows. There was even an open window on the second floor. It was really sad.
This next picture was taken from me just turning around. Look at that driveway. That is the BHV at the end.
The driveway was gravel and the pillars at the entrance way were falling over.
This is your side yard.
Interesting indeed! I felt sorry for the old place as we pulled out. I wondered about who loved it at one time. I wondered howl much it was listed for.
The kids slept the entire way home…..
More tuna fish sandwiches and a tank of gas later….Love, Cat, Grandma, Chaps and Emma
PS – BREAKING NEWS! I JUST GOOGLED THIS PLACE! HOWL CAN OUR EVALUATION BE SO OFF?
Make sure you look at all of the pictures. WHAT? The price floored us! My Mom and I thought it would be a tear down from looking at the outside. We guessed 150,00 for the place.
I had to crack up at our description and then the real estate person’s description. I love that I did not look at hers before I did this blog.
This place is definitely not a yard sale find! hehehehe
