Tuesday is time to deliver the bassethoundtown walking club fliers! YES!

October 5th, 2010 - 8:08 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and planning for a walking club walk lovers! Today Judy (basset hound town resident) and I decided to deliver fliers to basset hounds that we know of in our area to promote the Club’s first walk. I wanted to squeeze it in before we leave for our trip and it worked out great. Today was a stunning day. Any day is stunning when I get to love on Bumper and Abby, Judy’s hounds! I think we dropped off 8 fliers.

Here is Penelope Jo. She is a rescue and lives about 5 minutes away! She looks ready!

Then we drove over a few more street to find Hank sunning himz self in the front yard! He was thrilled to see us. Himz got a mini massage.

We dropped off fliers at a few more homes but the hounds were not outside.

Then we drove over to another town where a hound was in the news recently. The hound was a part of a hoopla where the owner had too many dogs. I am not sure howl it turned out, I think it is still in the works. Butt…..we found the hound lounging around!

Then Judy and I went out to lunch and discussed some more details. We are really looking forward to it!

I was excited to drop by Judys to spend some quality with her hounds!

This is Judy and Abby!

This is moi and Mr. Bumper!

IMG_9534

Himz is so hunky!

IMG_9531

Then Abby wanted to show me her very own bed! Judy is getting ready to put her fleece sheets on due to the cold weather coming on!

IMG_9542

The day was so much fun. OK, fun for me! Not for the Mayor. He attacked me when I got home.

He made sure I knew just howl he felt! Emma was a smelling machine!

IMG_9549

When I got home I had to change clothes in the basement to make sure I did not smell like Abby and Bumper too much. As you can see I was not too successful.

More updates about the walk later….Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

Sounds like fun! I didn’t realize that you knew of where all these hounds were. I was wondering how you were going to keep it to just bassets. I hope everyone shows for the walk! It’ll be a lot of healthy fun for everyone. Human and hound.

Poor Chaps and Emma. Now you have to spend a day out with them!

This jealous side of Our Mayor confuses me. Mayor Chaps must realize it is important for you (as his aide) to be out and about meeting his constituents. Your work is always in the interest of Basset Hounds and Basset Hound Town’s interest. The Mayor must realize it is his duty to share and recycle you.

I thought Bumper was the most jealous dog but Chaps sure does have him beat! It was a great day delivering fliers and having lunch. Bumper and Abby wonder where their massage lady is today. Come anytime!

  4. October 6th, 2010 | 4:24 pm

We didn’t get our flier! I sure wish our house was in BHT! I am assuming that you might allow one “fuzzy basset hound” (aka a sussex spaniel) join the walk with her basset sidekick?

Will the mayor be attending the walk? I know he doesn’t always do well with other dogs (other than Emma).

Judy, did you get a new haircut? You look great!

  5. October 6th, 2010 | 5:33 pm

Hi OM! Ohhhhhhhhh…..I sure wish you guys could come. We need to plan a walk while you are in town for the flying pig, if we can fit it in. That would be sooooo cooooooollllllll.

Oh absolutely Nell would be allowed. Totally!

The Mayor, the Mayor, oh the Mayor. Grandma has suggested that she stay home with the big grump. I might have to take her up on it. He is just down right mean some times.

This would be right up Emma’s ally and she could do something fun with Mommy like Chaps does with the school readings…..

    We will see!

Judy – Tell Mr. Bumps that I can swing by anytime! Himz loves his massages. Himz was snoring! hehehe

  7. October 6th, 2010 | 6:07 pm

Oh yes, we would love it to have a BHT walk/waddle while we are there for the flying pig! (the flying pig is a marathon if anyone wonders what we’re talking about). 😀

When is the pig flying anyway? How long will you be there? Maybe some of us could stop by and stay at the Big Lick Dog Park for a walk day. Ronald and I need a vacation and we’d love to try and plan around it if possible.

I mean, Big Bone Lick State Park.

  10. October 6th, 2010 | 6:49 pm

The Pig flies on May 1, 2011. 😀

  11. October 6th, 2010 | 6:53 pm

We are planning on spending a few days there, not just race day. That sounds like fun Cindy!

  12. October 6th, 2010 | 7:04 pm

Hey guys, that would be great! Big Bone it too far away. I have to look into other spots. Cabins would be the best and I would stay there too. There is just none that I know of close. I am going to work on this. Just in case we can get together. We will plan a Purple People Bridge walk. I AM SO EXCITED! Hopefully, we can do this! Let’s get those short legs a moving! hehehe

  13. October 6th, 2010 | 7:50 pm

Hannah was reading this line of comments and is now all excited again about going to the Flying Pig and going to BHT where we get to meet Miss Cat, Chaps and Emma!

  14. October 6th, 2010 | 7:57 pm

Oh howl cool! I was just thinking that the Mayor, Hannah and I will lead the walk. I can attach a smaller leash to the Mayor’s actual leash and Miss Hannah can help me parade the Mayor. I will make sure she just has the slack. Hannah’s Mommy can be at the lead as well! Really, I was just thinking about this! YES!

    Cat

    October 6th, 2010 | 8:08 pm

Well, we’ll be dragging Jethro anyway so we can bring up the rear. Ha!

Cabins sound great! No more than 2 nites for us though. We’re coming a long way with 4 dogs so we’ll need 2 days up and 2 days back to pack, travel, unpack then unwind for work.

I think this would be great! That’s a perfect time of year too.

  16. October 6th, 2010 | 8:10 pm

Hannah loves the Mayor and Emma so much. I was thinking about it when you said getting the short legs moving, because Hannah has short legs too! We can’t wait! How fun if Cindy and others can join us (of course we must meet Judy, Bumper and Abby as well!).

  17. October 6th, 2010 | 8:26 pm

Cindy – FYI, Bumper hates to walk too far so he might be behind you guys! hehehe

  18. October 6th, 2010 | 8:28 pm

Poor Jethro. I can already hear the whimper. We love Jethro!

  19. October 6th, 2010 | 8:28 pm

OM – I have some pretty short legs as well! Hannah and I will be perfect to lead the way, oh and of course Emma! I need Hannah to keep an eye on her as well! She loves little girls!

We’ll couple Jethro and Bumper and let them bring up the rear!

    October 6th, 2010 | 8:54 pm

Cindy that is too funny. I don’t think either one would want to be coupled. To grumpy old men? I am giggling like a school girl…hehehe

    October 6th, 2010 | 8:59 pm

Oh no, Bumper is grumpy too? 3 grumps in one bunch?!

  23. October 6th, 2010 | 9:09 pm

Sophie loves everybody and will compensate for the grumpy old men. Nell will be so excited she will spend all of her time going in a happy circle!

  24. October 6th, 2010 | 9:12 pm

Yes, 3 grumps! Interestingly, all old men! Emma will be in the fun girl group! hehehe

  25. Judy, Bumper & Abby
    October 6th, 2010 | 11:54 pm

Abby loves everyone but Bumper choses his dog friends very cautiously. He has a real basset attitude! When we go on a walk and he feels he has gone far enough – he just lays down and will not get up – he can bring up the rear. The Flying Pig is a great race – my twin boys have both place high in the full marathon 2nd and 7th. It would be great to finally meet everyone that we talk to on this blog – cannot wait! Onemom- my hair is just shorter from the hot summer we had! Thanks for liking it.

Rugby is a boy but he wants to be in the “fun girl group”! I promise, he’s a real gentleman. Harriet can be a grump too and talks too much. She’s never bitten any one or any doggie but she sounds very ferocious. Once you get her trust (takes about 30 mins) she’s the sweetest hound. Oz sometimes gets intimidated at dogs that are bigger than him. He doesn’t bark often and thank goodness because his bark is very loud and ugly. I’ve never known him to bite either. The only one I have that will draw blood is Jethro. Luckily, I know Jethro real well and can usually intervene before something bad happens. But, Jethro’s not all that bad either. He’s really very sweet. Actually, all my dogs are very sweet once you get to know them. But, aren’t they all!?

  27. October 7th, 2010 | 9:54 am

Chaps upper lip starts to quiver when he gets mad. She shows one tooth and then all hell breaks loose. You really don’t think of bassets being grumps but reading this is cracking me up!

    October 7th, 2010 | 10:10 am

Jethro does exactly what Chaps does. Sometimes I can tell before he starts quivering by his stance and the look on his face. He may look cute but that look isn’t meant to be cute! The good thing about grumps is that I picture them all ignoring each other. That’s what Jethro does. He just ignores everydoggie. Now if somedoggie comes close to his Mommy he gets upset and there could be an issue. But I’ve figured out how to handle that one too. If I’m fast enough!

  29. October 7th, 2010 | 10:26 am

Chaps protects Emma but his form of protection is attacking her. It is so strange. Oh the mind of a Mayor!

  30. Maureen and Slinky
    October 7th, 2010 | 10:27 am

I would definitely want to come to a get together, just tell me when and where. Instead of walk we could maybe plan a hayride or picnic/BBQ.

Whatever, Slinky definitely wants to be there.

  31. October 7th, 2010 | 10:42 am

Maureen we can do a walk and a picnic! It is going to be fun. I just have to find a place where we can all stay. Judy and I can scout it out. We definitely want to walk over the bridge. It is beautiful!

Cat – I have where we can all stay – you know how we want to oust the “real” mayor of our town – we get rid of her and then we all move into her house – it is certainly big enough for all of us – as you say hehehehehehe

  33. October 7th, 2010 | 6:50 pm

Judy – too funny! I love it. We would certainly all fit! We have to find some place. Good thing we have some time!
