October 10th, 2010 - 9:09 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Happy Birthday to Grandma Lovers….

Can you believe it? Grandma’s lucky number is 10! I called her this morning at 10:10am to wish her happy birthday. I had a cookie for Emma so she would sing happy birthday with me. It was totally too cute!

IMG_9577

10-10-10 will not happen for another 400 years. Today when I was calling Grandma many, many couples were getting married! I heard it on the news. This is going to be a very lucky year!

We took Grandma out to eat!

IMG_9579

She does not look 80 that is for sure!

IMG_9587

We dined at the Chart House, the birthday girl’s favorite restaurant. It was delicious!

The kids gave her lunch at Cedrics. A pub on the property of the Biltmore Estate in Ashville. They allow dogs to eat on the patio.

Table for 4 please and we would like to start with unsalted french fries! Pronto! hehehe

More bringing the kids the check later….Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

Very pretty girl!

The National Specialties from Oconomowoc WI (35 miles west of Milwaukee) where 167 Basset Hounds showed up for the regular classes of the Basset Hound Club of America’s National specialty this week. Marjorie Wikerd BOB was GCH CH Blossomhill’s Mamma Mia. BOS was CH Olde Fashion Talk About Buckeye Luck, BOW/WB was Soundtrack Grand Illusion, & WD (from the 9-12 Month Puppy class) was Topsfield Corkery Oscar Renta.

Violet is bred and owned by Suzanne Sukey Shor and handled by Mike Stone.

Remember that next year the Nationals are being held about 10 minutes from Basset Hound Town. We already have our rooms reserved. I know it is close but I want to be where all the action and hounds are. The Mayor will parade around the ring one more time in the veterans class. He is a champion you know!

Here he is in his past life. I bet he did not enjoy it too much. We will just have to wait and see if he really wants to do one more round.

Chaps5

Emma will be there to cheer him on, in her own special way, if he does. It should be fun. I will be reporting on the 2011 Nationals as things come up!

More cheering on the Mayor later! Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

OMD! I have wanted these boots since I graphically designed them for my sister back in 2006!

October 8th, 2010 - 6:06 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and graphically designed boot lovers! Back when I wrote the Lily book I was also graphically designing all of the pages. This is my sister’s page. This sister is a physician that lives in Atlanta. She is the sister we are going to go visit next week. Her son, Ronald, goes to VMI. Anyway, back to me and the boots I have always dreamed of! hehehe

P14_Hilley page

See them on my sister, not to be mistaken for Lady GaGa! I was before my time! Anyway, back to the real world. I was walking through Target today and the skies parted…..LQQK!

THE BOOTS I GRAPHICALLY DESIGNED BACK IN 2006!

IMG_9569

The only difference is they are plastic Wellies! I am even more excited! I have wanted a pair of cool Wellies for years! Now I have a reason to buy them! Walking hounds through the dewy blue ridge parkway!

That is if they wake up!

More loving hound’s tooth later…..Cat (big lover of hound’s tooth), Chaps and Emma

P.S. Do you think that this hoodie will go with the boots? Yes, I am obsessed with the Mayor!

IMG_9572

P.P.S – I have about 6 more of these in different colors and designs. Thank you Grandpa!

Cat’s Friday night movie pick!

October 8th, 2010 - 5:05 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and movie pick lovers! I watched an HBO on demand documentary last night called Teenage Paparazzo by Adrian Grenier of Entourage fame. I have never seen Entourage but I found this documentary somewhat fascinating.

I love TV! New TV, old TV, good TV, bad TV, any TV! With today’s scadzillion channels you can really find some massive TV!

So, if you get HBO on demand you have until 10-25-10 to catch Cat’s movie pick for the night.

More picks later….Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma ( the paparzzi darling)

Emma's Paparzzi

I heard this picture went for lots and lots! hehehe

Translation – “can I have my tennis ball please”

October 7th, 2010 - 1:01 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Translation lovers…..

This cute baby laughs as Elroy insists on his tennis ball. Even though YouTube did not offer any translation I provided it for my dear readers and listeners! LOL!

Pretty funny!

More barking translations later….Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

Shadows creep into our smiles sometimes…..

October 6th, 2010 - 8:08 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Shadow Lovers….

Who would have ever thought that a few shadows would inspire a blog posting???

Well, inspire they did. I was walking down the hallway, minding my own business when I stopped dead in my tracks and saw this.

IMG_9551

Some long October shadows were casting through my kitchen window. I immediately recognized baby Emma. Right in the middle. She had already had her coming in from her potty treat but hope was springing eternal. Check out her cute shadow!

IMG_9553

Did you notice the brass basset hound shadow?

This is the actual window seal.

IMG_9561

I am not sure what the shadow was to the right. I have a little memorial to my Dad on that window seal. Shadows can be very sweet. I love looking at them.

More enjoying the long shadows of fall later….Cat, Chaps and Emma

P.S. Emma got another coming in from going potty treat! She has me wrapped around her little paw like a shadow! hehehe

Tuesday is time to deliver the bassethoundtown walking club fliers! YES!

October 5th, 2010 - 8:08 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and planning for a walking club walk lovers! Today Judy (basset hound town resident) and I decided to deliver fliers to basset hounds that we know of in our area to promote the Club’s first walk. I wanted to squeeze it in before we leave for our trip and it worked out great. Today was a stunning day. Any day is stunning when I get to love on Bumper and Abby, Judy’s hounds! I think we dropped off 8 fliers.

Here is Penelope Jo. She is a rescue and lives about 5 minutes away! She looks ready!

IMG_9510

Then we drove over a few more street to find Hank sunning himz self in the front yard! He was thrilled to see us. Himz got a mini massage.

IMG_9516

We dropped off fliers at a few more homes but the hounds were not outside.

Then we drove over to another town where a hound was in the news recently. The hound was a part of a hoopla where the owner had too many dogs. I am not sure howl it turned out, I think it is still in the works. Butt…..we found the hound lounging around!

IMG_9518

Then Judy and I went out to lunch and discussed some more details. We are really looking forward to it!

I was excited to drop by Judys to spend some quality with her hounds!

This is Judy and Abby!

IMG_9523

This is moi and Mr. Bumper!

IMG_9534

Himz is so hunky!

IMG_9531

Then Abby wanted to show me her very own bed! Judy is getting ready to put her fleece sheets on due to the cold weather coming on!

IMG_9542

The day was so much fun. OK, fun for me! Not for the Mayor. He attacked me when I got home.

He made sure I knew just howl he felt! Emma was a smelling machine!

IMG_9549

When I got home I had to change clothes in the basement to make sure I did not smell like Abby and Bumper too much. As you can see I was not too successful.

More updates about the walk later….Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

Lily Pad Serenea Von Firstenburg Child……

October 4th, 2010 - 11:11 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Gotcha Day Lovers: Well, 16 years ago today I found my Lily. AKA The Pad, The Child, Our Little Cow, Baby Seal Pup, and the list goes on an on of her fun loving names!

I know many of you know her story but I will link to it just in case you want to read it for the first time or again.

ST. FRANCIS DAY IS TODAY – LILY’S GOTCHA DAY IN 1994

If you have the Senior Hounds Abound Calendar you will see Lily on her day.

IMG_9448

She was the softest Basset Hound I have ever had the pleasure of petting. We also called her our chinchilla hound. She would sit by my side for hours, leaning on me as she fell asleep. She would position herself so my hand was on her head. She actually could flip your hand to land on her body. It was so cute.

Here she is laying where Chaps worry bed is now.

IMG_9506

I thought she looked so pretty laying in that stream of sun light.

More missing the sun light of my life later…..Cat, Chaps and Emma

I have wanted to do this for 4 years! Introducing the Bassethoundtown Walking Club! YES!

October 3rd, 2010 - 12:12 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and New Club Lovers! Well, I don’t know a single person who would not want to belong to this prestigious club! hehehehe

It is called the Basset Hound Town Walking Club and I have been wanting to start this for about 4 years. Basset Hound Town residents Judy, Bumper and Abby gave me the push I needed to get our new club up and running!

judymebumperabby

I started a FaceBook Fan Page by the same name. Here it is. Can you tell me if you can see it?

Bassethoundtown Walking Club

This a good place to keep all of the information about the club and when our walking events will take place. Here is the flier I finished last night for our first walk.

IMG_9497

Judy and I are going to meet for lunch this week and then deliver the fliers over all basset hound town. I think we know howl to find about 10 bassets. I am also going to put an ad in the local paper! hehehe

I hope to see a lot more of this sight only with about 10 more hounds! This is Colby Chaps and his lil’ sis Abby.

IMG_1388

I sure wish more of the basset hound town residents could come to our walks. I think most of you live far, far away from the walking route. What a shame.

Oh well, you can go on the cyber walk. You know I will video tape it and take mega pictures.

If you are on facebook you can “like” us and keep up with more details. Of course I will be blogging about the new club ad nauseum.

Come on! Let’s get those short legs moving!

More Walking News Later…..Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma
