A special bright star in the sky this Christmas Eve:(
Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and sending special Christmas Eve prayers lovers…
There is a new bright star in the Christmas Eve sky tonight…
Oh, I am so sorry to report that Richard McCarty, special basset boy to Charlene and Glenn, has made his way over the rainbow bridge. It is never easy to let our loved ones go but Richard’s passing is especially hard on this Christmas eve……
All the residents of Basset hound town enjoyed every update we received about our Richard and this update is the hardest one to post.
I just lit my bridge candle in his memory.
Richard was helped over the bridge today by his loving family. Richard was diagnosed with a tumor on his spleen and was in pain. Richard will be missed greatly forever. This Christmas will be hard on his family and any extra prayers you have will be greatly appreciated by Charlene, Glenn, Bailey, Clancy, Audra, Mike, Jourdan, Colby Chaps and Abby…
Maybe Santa needed a special helper in his sleigh tonight….
Dog Speed dear Richard…..Dog Speed….
More missing Richard, a special boy, later….Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma
Charlene and Glenn … I am so sorry to hear about Richard. I have so appreciated his updates … I loved his story and how attached he became to you Charlene. Thank you for giving him such a wonderful home full of love.
Our candle is lit for Richard, and our prayers are with your family.
Mournful arooooos:((( Richard is in the arms of gentle St. Francis now and I am sure is being fitted for his angel wings. I will light my special candle to help guide his way to the Bridge…

Charlene and Glenn – we are so very sorry that Richard has gone to the bridge. It is so hard to lose a furry best friend especially during the holidays. It is wonderful that he had you as his mom and dad for as long as he did. Hugs and love to you both.
We here at the Doyle house are thinking of and praying for Richard’s Family. Richard was a very lucky hound to be found by Charlene and Glenn. I know he will be missed.
I went through and enlarged the pictures in the post and love the family picture. All that commotion, and there is Richard, calmly enjoying his bed (or making sure he didn’t lose his bed) … that seemed pretty normal in those family shots that Richard would be holding his bed down. Thanks Charlene and family for giving Richard so much love and comfort and contentment.
What a nice observation OM. Richard was Charlene’s shadow. He never left her side. He was such a kind and gentle soul. Boy was he lucky to land in the land of McCarty Love……

I was so happy and relieved the day you blogged that Richard was going to get to stay with Charlene and Glenn. He knew where he wanted to be and it was so wonderful that he got to stay with his chosen person.
This is so sad, he gave so many cuddles and so much love Richard will be dearly missed. The world was a better place because of Richard.
I am posting this for Richard’s Mom, Charlene…..
“Cat,
Thank you so much for putting the story of my sweet little Richard on your blog for the last time, and for all your prayers, thoughts and concerns. I’m so thankful I still have Bailey and Clancy who turned 11 in Dec., and I know they love me; but no Basset that I ever had loved me like Richard did. The house is so quiet without the pitter patter of his little feet following me everywhere. He stayed with me constantly. Also I’d like to thank all the others who commented and kept me in their prayers. ~ Charlene”
You are very welcome dear friend and we hold you close in our hearts in basset hound town….
