Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Big Red lovers! This handsome hound just won best of breed at Westminster Dog show, which by the way starts tonight if you are interested.
The bassets showed earlier today and this guy won!

“Nobody knows exactly what will happen at the Westminster Dog Show this year, but, according to Vegas oddsmakers at the Wynn Las Vegas, certain breeds have a better shot than others. The fox terrier (smooth) is a favorite, with odds of 6-to-1, while the saluki and basset hound are the longest shots at 135-to-1. (These odds are for entertainment purposes only, advises the casino, so don’t go crazy.)”

Why are bassets always the under dog? I just don’t get it.

They never win a dang thing at any dog show. All AKC judging is political anyway. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and the judges clearly do not have an eye for beauty.
Big Red is a stunning boy! This is the one time of year I regret not having cable. I am usually pretty content to read the news and watch episodes previously aired on the internet, and movies. So thanks for the update and they put breed judging videos up on the westminster kennel club web site, that I will try to see. There are usually so many hits at first that it knocks you off line, but if you wait until the smoke clears it is big fun, watching all the show bassets strut around the ring!
Yes the Professor is truly a Star….I am delighted to know him and see him perform at dog shows as he is a member of our Basset Hound Club of So Calif. He make winning look so easy!!!

I’ve always been a fan of the Professor and the whole Nolan gang. They are a class act!!!
Pam Tanzey posted on Facebook yesterday that Joann Nolan has passed away. She was surely greeted by a choir of her beloved bassets.
