One year later….
Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and wonderful resident lovers. Well, it has been one year since Grandpa passed away and it seems like yesterday and it also seems like one hundred years ago. Many of you know exactly howl I feel.
The day my Dad passed my Mom and I decided to go to one of our favorite restaurants and celebrate Dad’s memory. It was hard but we only wanted to enjoy his memory. The restaurant is called the Green Derby. It is a tiny place that has been around for ages. The food is amazing and that is all that matters when you are with amazing folks, like my folks.
So, Mom and I decided to have a meal here every year on February the 28th.
I also wanted to add to the tradition and add a page of memories in the diary that the Hospice nurse gave us.
Something magical happened. See the booth upholstery? Pretty huh? They just re-upholstered all of the booths and chairs with the same fabric that my Dad picked out over 20 years ago to re-upholster his and my Mom’s favorite chairs….
Can you even imagine?
I made sure to make note of it in the diary….I like this tradition……
More missing Dad everyday but knowing he is with me everyday….Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma
Cat – someone in an earlier blog said they thought your dad would be apparent today … I got goosebumps when you talked about the fabric! What a special grandpa moment.
Extra hugs to you and grandma.
it was me! told ya…i just knew he would….grandpa is reliable!
What a coincidence with the fabric. This is so cool that you and Grandma remember Grandpa like this. I’m sure it was a special time for you both. And I’m sure Grandpa was right there with you.
Hugs to you both!!!! I thought about you both today — I’m glad you enjoyed your special time. How ironic that the fabric was the same, as if Grandpa was sitting right there with you! I know you miss him terribly!!! He was such a good, sweet man. Love you both!
I think what both of you are doing only makes your memories more sweet.
This gave me chills, Cat! I know your dad is all around you both, always:)
