Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and wanting to feel the sand between your toes lovers! There is nothing I love more than a warm beach, the sound of the ocean or the smell of the coast. OK, maybe one more thing! A basset sand sculpture while I am doing all of the above!

Sandbasset

More dreaming of all of the above later…Cat, Chaps and Emma

tomorrow it’s making spaghetti sauce & meat balls night so it can sit & steep for the weekend. & i can skim a little off for pizza.

friday night the rest of the basset brigade come for a sleep over…5 bassets here…ought not to be dull. hopefully it will be warmer & sunny.

Come see the Doyle hounds! We have sandy beaches only 20 mins away. Love the hound sculpture! It’s amazing what they can do with that sand. They have contests in our area every year but I’ve only gone to it once. Things have changed so much in our area thought since Hurricane Ike that I’m not sure where we can even get on the beach anymore. Guess I need to load up the hounds and figure it out!

We’ll take that sketti too! Never thought of using some for pizza. I’ll bet that’s really great!

ok…nothing fancy but it tastes really good sauce

crock pot if ya have one!
2 28 ox cans of crushed maters
1 smaller can (not the real smal one) of paste
    or
box of crushed maters or real maters what ever works for ya

oregano, basil, parsley, salt, pepper, hot pepper, ,rosemary
    garlic (lots),
onion (1/2 medium sized one chopped up )
green pepper (or red, orange yellow etc) iffen ya want
    cheap burgandy wine
    fennel if ya have
    meatballs
i add 1 link hot italian sausage
    good italian cheese
if i am feeling festive lemon zest

    ok
    dump maters in crock pot
dump about 1/2 cup of wine in pot
    (do julia child imitation..drink some)
    add spices..about that much…very technical
    stir…
    pinch of sugar

heat meatballs & sausage up on stove…when hot add them to sauce…

    stir…

turn heat up to hot or whatever in crockpot. cover & let it do its think…come back every now & then to taste. add more of this & that. do more julia child acts. add more wine to it (alcohol gets cooked off) add cheese (about 2 pinches or so to the sauce)

just keep adjusting the spices after you let it sit for a bit. be brave but cautious at the same time.

it’s nothing fancy but it tastes like it is. i think the trick is the fennel & the sausage & the cheap wine .

you can make it spicy, sweet, thick, thin etc. i like mine with a little kick & on the thick side..

use for pasta, pizza, parmesian, what ever..makes a good amount for a couple of meals.

i am not italian so i am sure others make better than me…but this is good, easy & cheap..since stores here always have canned maters on sale. in the summer i grow the basil, oregano, etc & freeze it so always have it but you can use the dried stuff..it works too.

Chaps is upset about his upcoming bath. This is causing him a lot of anxiety, you must be sure to provide many extra treats for him to calm down.
