Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and vacationing with your hounds lovers!
Howl do you stack up? Chaps and Emma’s Grandma sent us this clipping from USA Today!
I would have to say that we fall into the 12% category.
I shutter to think who falls into the not sure category????
Probably best that category not have dogs!
More loving Grandma’s clippings later….Cat, Chaps and Emma
12% here. have taken dogs with me on trips to maine, michigan, north carolina, new hampshire, vermont, pennsylvania and all the places in between. some were bassets, one was a a chessie & one was a lab/collie? mix
only time i ever boarded a dog was when the evil brother graduated from annapolis & we were away for commissioning week…& that was in 1982.
I never could travel with my dogs so I can count on my hands the number of times that I’ve had to have someone come over and feed them for me. I tried not to go out of town much. The last time we traveled we were traveling with Jethro and Rugby. We started fostering Oz and Harriet but couldn’t take that many hounds with us. Since Oz and Harriet were so new and they hadn’t bonded yet we took them back to the boarding facility we took them out of. We picked them up on the way back.
Cindy we can do our own stats!
And what would those look like?
Cindy! LOL! who knows but we can do our own chart! It would be fun!
We have gone on family vacations to the beach and usually the condos and beach houses are not friendly for dogs. Bumper and Abby prefer their house and love it when my son Brian comes over and stays with them. He usually has a party or two!
Oh Judy, I totally agree with you. I watch my sisters dogs. She is overwhelmed with joy.
What I found crazy is 45% said never! I would have never guessed that.
We have never taken the dogs out of state (Michigan) Mostly camping, but Belle has stayed in a hotel near Traverse City.
I have taken Slinky with me on all my trips. I make sure before hand that the B&Bs, or Inns accept pets. I also check out a Dog Day Care Center (recommended by the Innkeeper) that Slinky can stay at for a day, if I am attending an event. It works out fine, because she is excellent company, and so many places we have stayed found her quiet and comfortable to be around.
We would be in the sometimes category … depends on the plan. Also, we have someone that can usually come in and stay with the dogs (and LuLu the cat) and tend the house. The dogs love their beds and their routine.
OM – I totally agree with you about the word, “routine”. My kids LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, their routine!
You hit the nail on the head OM. Routine, routine, routine. If I get just a hair off of that routine I’m scolded! With 4 dogs barking and howling it doesn’t take long to remember what you are supposed to be doing.
