Are we all springing foward OK?

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Springing Forward Lovers, or Haters!

I am not a fan of springing forward. I wish we did not have to fall back or spring forward but no one asked me, so be it. As far as the kids go, they LOVE to spring forward! They have no problem adjusting to eating an hour early!

As you can see in this picture they reported to work right on time as well!

Howl ever, we do have a work place “situation”. See the red throw on the back of the couch?

IMG_2286

Chaps absolutely hates it. He won’t get on the office bed, in their cubicle, if it is on the bed. It is a mini down comforter. Emma loves it. She was “looking” at it and slightly crying for it.

I told Emma to hold on until the Mayor fell asleep and I would take care of the “situation”

Dog forbid we upset the homeostasis of the work environment!

So, the Mayor was deep into his morning break and I eased employee tensions!

That is what a good manager does!

More springing forward later….Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

Our Mayor can be quite a fussbudget! It’s a good thing we have sweet Emma to counter some of his negative attitudes.

Maureen – I love that word. Fussbudget! That fits him to T! He hates the feeling of that comfy. It’s too, too, something. I can’t put my paw on it, but he does not like it. Can you imagine a hound not liking a down comforter?

NO! We don’t like this springing forward! We CANNOT catch up on our hour of sleep we lost. Oh well. Something we all have to suffer through I guess.

I think what’s wrong with that comforter is that it’s too fluffy for him to lay on and get comfy. He doesn’t nest under it like Emma does, does he?

My Harriet makes really nice nests too. Must be a female thing. Probably something to do with having pups.

  4. March 15th, 2011 | 1:21 pm

Cindy – I am yawning my head off. It is just crazy! Hard to believe that 1 hour would be that big of a deal but it is.

Maybe it is too fluffy for him. He just won’t step one paw on that bed if the comfy is on there. He does not nest and seems to be ticked off by the notion. Sometimes he will lay on top of Emma’s living room gully just for kicks. Grandma hates when he does that and tries to get him off for Emma’s sake.

I bet it is a female thing. I would like to hear from other residents about this.

Do your male hounds nest? Chaps is the only boy I have ever had so have no past experience!

A boy is a joy! hehehe

A Question for everyone that posts here!

How much time do you spend worrying about your Basset Hound’s comfort?

    Cat,

I had a bagle, my first “basset”. I honestly didn’t know he was a mix. He made a real ritual out of fixing his bed just so. He grumbled the whole time too! I don’t think it is just females. Plus my one female hound didn’t nest, she just plopped down and went to sleep.

Mary – very good insight for a boy basset to nest. I guess they like comfort just like the next hound! hehehe

  8. March 15th, 2011 | 4:23 pm

Maureen – I don’t actually worry too much about their comfort but I do worry about all the money I spend on their comfort insuring I don’t have to worry! LOL

    Cat,

That’s one of the best answers I ever heard!

My 3 boys will scratch at the bed which I call “getting the bugs and snakes out” but they don’t actually make a nest. Harriet likes to sleep under or close to something against her body. She’ll make those nests like Emma does that look like little bird nests made with blankets or sheets. The boys don’t go to all that trouble. But…the boys do enjoy a pillow to rest their elbows on.

I have to admit that I do worry about the comfort of my hounds. In fact, I’m thinking about changing out some beds that I paid good money for about 8 years ago because they are getting thinner in the middle. They still have plenty of bed left and Rugs sometimes goes in there to lay down even though he has other spots so I know they are still comfy. It just bothers me that there is an indent in the middle.

  11. March 15th, 2011 | 6:17 pm

Cindy – I agree with you about the indent. I do worry about that as well. Bassets do love to be comfy and really appreciate our efforts.

Emma will wake me up during the middle of the night to cover her up. She will take her head and ram it into my side. HELLO!

    Not, “Winning”! hehehe

Shouldn’t the Mayor have a private office? BOL

  13. March 15th, 2011 | 8:51 pm

Candy – that is toooooo funny! A man of his level should have a corner office with a window view. Right now he is hanging off of the office pillow because he does not want to touch that awful red comforter! hehehe

I picture Chaps and Emma having side by side private offices, with a reception area with rows of secretaries (with pony tails) typing all the Mayor’s important pronouncements!

Each secretary’s main duties would be to distribute different varieties of treats.

  16. March 16th, 2011 | 2:20 pm

    That would be me! hehehe

    Cat,

That is probably true, and I believe you would have the best, I mean very best experience for the job.

  20. March 16th, 2011 | 4:45 pm

Bumper an Abby only like fleece fabrics. They push and paw their two blankets until they are comfy and Bumper rolls one into a pillow. They love me to cover them up with fleece. I think it is the fabric that Chaps does not like and I think it is probably cold too. Just keep the big boy happy.

  22. March 17th, 2011 | 10:27 am

My kids both love the fleece. Now I have 2 office security (Gully) blankees depending on who is napping where. I might try to ween Emma of the mini comfy but Grandma thinks it still can work. Right now Emma is in the living room and Chaps is in the office, comfy is on the couch! hehehe
