Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Spring Cleaning Basset Hound Lovers! Well, well, well…..Here we have the Doyle hounds getting a spring cleaning air our! There is nothing better than airing out hounds and their beds at the same time!
Cindy sent me some pictures today of her pack airing out. I love it!
My Mom is a huge fan of airing out a hound!
So, hear we have Rugs! Airing out on his bed that is airing out!
Then we have beautiful Harriet! Such a delicate beauty!
Next up…..The birthday boy! Mr. Jethro will be 10 years old tomorrow! Happy Birthday big boy! We love you! Look howl good you are airing out!

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and annual dog show lovers! Every year the Kentuckiana Cluster Dog Show is held in Louisville, KY. I have heard this dog show starts the season and Westminster ends the season. All I know is that this show used to be a lot bigger. Over the past several years it has dwindled down from about 90 bassets showing to 17. Probably the sign of the times. Anyway, we love to watch hounds strut their stuff.
First off, we go to the Brown Hotel for a Hot Brown! I know I tell you all this every year but someone new might be reading! hehehe
Then we sit in the lobby and soak in the ambiance….
Off we got to the show! Look who we saw first! Is that a dog?
Off we went to ring 30. The show starts in 5 minutes….
It was simply odd. In the past, there were 90 to 100 hounds milling around the show site. All wearing sparkling snoods. This year, only 17 hounds showed up for this particular Sunday show. It was a ghost town!
This hound was asking, “Mommy, am I doing OK?”
Of course you are dear hound!
This hound won best of breed!
Sorry, I don’t know the name of the hound, but the handler is Brian Martin.
So, as we were leaving the arena, viewing this girl, a voice came over the loud speaker…..
“ATTENTION TO THE PERSON WITH LICENSE PLATE NUMBER _________, PLEASE ATTEND TO YOUR CAR IMMEDIATELY! A BASSET HOUND WAS LEFT IN THE CAR WITH ALL OF THE WINDOWS ROLLED UP!”
This was repeated 3 times!
Do you know howl bad I wanted to attack this Moron? Don’t even get me started.
Folks, this is 2011. Who in their right mind does this? It was 75 degrees today in Louisville and NO SHADE!

P.S. all you have to do is look at the face of that one hound who is so wanting to please and it breaks your heart that anyone can be so stupid.

Did you see that Moon last night? It was simply, stunning! Here is a shot I got of the moon in KY…..
Hardy, har, har! Actually, I was sitting next to Chaps and had quite frankly forgot about our super friend….That is until it rose up in the East sky around 8:00pmish. It was like someone was shining a spot light in my front window. It was awe inspiring. I decided to try and capture the moment by snapping a pic.
Not too good but it was fun gazing at the Moon’s glory.

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Thundershirt wondering lovers! We just had a mini thunderstorm move in and then move out! I whipped out the Thundershirt and plastered it on the Mayor.
It did not work. I would give it about a 3% edge on the Mayors thunderstorm fears. There was no time for pictures. He did look really cute. This is a picture from the day we receive the Thundershirt.
I am not giving up on the Thundershirt just yet.
I am so upset, but I am not surprised. He cannot even calm down with Xanax. I guess cases like Chaps are so severe there is no hope. I hate saying that…

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and taking a day trip lovers! We were so excited that today was going to be in the 70s! We packed a lunch and packed the kids and took off.
We wound up at the Boone County, KY Arboretum.
Folks, if you are near this park you must go! We cannot wait to go back when all of the plants and trees are in bloom. The walking trails are massive!
We walked, walked and walked some more!
The Mayor was with Grandma. Emma and I tried to keep up!
Then we found a place to rest….
Then we got lost! We roamed for about an hour! We were kind of freaked out! It was clouding up and misting. We were all really tired.
We were all on our last legs. It was kind of scary! We flagged down a park employee asking for help. He was so funny. He said, “are you the car with the huge pictures of basset hounds?” “Keep walking north and you will see your car”. Finally we found the basset hauling vehicle! The kids had a huge drink and seats in the BHV never felt so good!
OMD we all were dragging!
Howl ever, we can’t wait to come back. We want to take the Dogwood trail! Howl cool will that be?

Isn’t that cute? I am a huge fan of 4 leaf clovers and actually look for them everywhere!
This morning I even had an Irish Coffee with the Mayor in my clover mug!
I love it because there is only one 4 leaf clover on it! You can probably see it!
