Hey! What’s all the commotion?
Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Guess Who’s Back? Lovers….
Today the Mayor was trying to settle into his morning nap but there was too much commotion going on!
Wings flapping, birds chirping, and the wind blowing…..
So, he got up and meandered out to check out the situation!
The chirping and the flapping would enter from the left…..
And then move to the right……
Guess who is back?
It’s Verna! She comes almost every year. I was worried about her last spring because she never showed up.
She started, with the help of her beau, at about 10:00 this morning. They finished the masterpiece at about 8:00 this evening. It was so much fun watching her build the nest. It was like she was knitting sticks and twigs with her feet and her beak.
I know I have blogged about Verna before but I will say it again. I think she picks this spot because the hounds will keep the roaming cats away. Plus there is the overhang on my porch roof to keep her somewhat dry. She will sure need that tomorrow as more severe storms are headed into the basset hound town.
Verna is no bird brain!
More waiting for the hatchlings later….Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma
Birds are awesome to watch. They always seem to find my ferns on the porch – it makes it tough to water them. Stay safe and get the thundershirt ready – I heard that the storms from the other night were mild next to what is coming tonight and tomorrow afternoon. Louisville is already seeing severe weather. Oh no – will it ever end?
Judy – I am so upset about the weather tonight. I hope Verna is OK on her nest. I am very attached to her.
Poor Chaps, howl much more can he take?
I hope the weather calms down for BHT and you can all enjoy some quiet spring days. It’s been such a stormy april. Poor Mayor (poor Cat and Grandma!).
Love you guys …
Chaps will definitely need some extra cuddles and lovin, but since Verna has returned he has something else to think about.
I am so happy that birds feel safe and comfortable in Basset Hound Town.
Welcome back Verna! I know you were worried Cat. I’m so glad she came to stay with you this year. Maybe her GPS was on the blink last year and she got lost.
OMD – I was just thinking about her. Glad she is back.
