Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Emma on her 7th birthday lovers…..As many of the town’s dear readers know, bassethoundtown releases an official birthday shot of Miss Emma every year.

This year Grandma placed a crown of Cherry Blossoms on her head and we captured the true essence of our Emma!

If you look closely, you can see the slightest portion of the pink patty. You know pink is her signature color!

Of course proud Mamma had to get in on the act!

Finnish basset hound on a scent……

Once a basset hound gets on a scent that hound can easily out distance a marathon runner. A fair amount of folks that don’t know about the breed think bassets are lazy. It’s not the bassets, it is the people of the lazy bassets (myself included). I really should exercise my kids more. Heck, I should exercise more.

I have to hand it to the person who video taped this hound. Can you imagine hanging on to that hound, running through the brush, and filming it? Hats off to you buddy!

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and making it through the night lovers…..Well, all heck broke loose round about 1:00am this morning. The tornado sirens were going off, all networks had their weather people talking a mile a minute, and the red blob was getting closer! My e-mail was going bonkers with dings sending forecast alerts every minute or so. It was really strange. Then the phone rang and it was Grandma. We made a decision to huddle in my place for a few more seconds and then we went to the basement landing between brick walls.

We decided not to go down the steps because Chaps was woozey from his storm pill and DoG knows we did not need any broken bones. I did not have my camera in the hallway but here is a drawing of our set up.

We sat there for about 10 minutes. The kids were so good. I had the TV up really loud and we heard the weather man give the all clear for Ft. Thomas. Wow! That was one wild ride!

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and SLOG entry lovers…..Here is the entry in my trusty spiral ring note book 7 years ago today.

As we all know it was not one week to go but only days. When I was writing this entry I was working on the Lily book and also designing my website. I bought my domain name in early 2005. I remember thinking up the name in a flash.

I wanted a name that respresented a place, a center, a home, A TOWN, for basset hound lovers…….

Here is a good picture of Mommy Dawn. Her fancy name is Dawn’s First Light……

Emma looks so much like her. Dawn is also very smart and Emma inherited that as well. I think Chaps had a crush on her.

It was love at first sight!

Click the link to read all about this wonderful old gal. They call her an English Basset. Has anyone ever heard of that? I haven’t. She does howl ever look full bodied.

“I’m Olivia, and I’m a gorgeous, loving hound! I am used to city dwelling (condo w/elevator) as long as there aren’t too many stairs.

Olivia is terrified of thunder storms and needs a calming sedative to get her through it. She is also not fond of the vacuum but will just run into the other room to get away from it.”

Well, we know all about being terrified of thunderstorms in our neck of the woods…

I sure hope she finds a great home to live out her golden years. She sure looks very special….
