Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Dog Day Lovers…..Yes, in bassethoundtown today was Dog Day. Tomorrow Moms will be celebrated but today….It was Chaps and Emma getting the royal treatment! First stop, both kids got a mani/pedi!

Most Moms would love this treatment but the Mayor….not so much.

Emma was next up! I held her tight while she waited for her treatment!

After the mani/pedi we stopped off for 2 large bags of hound food.

Our day of beauty was not nearly over! Off to the SPA!

dh

We have been wanting to pop in at Dirty Hairy’s since it opened. Everyone was so helpful!

Chaps did really good. We were very proud of him. This is the owner. She got us all set up and then we took over!

Now for our little Simlette! hehehe

IMG_2992

All shined up and ready to go! Beautiful in their bandannas the kids shined like bright stars!

But the day is not over yet! We have loads of laundry to do! Dog forbid clean hounds get in a dirty bed!

More loving Dog Days later….Cat, Chaps and Emma

self-service dog spa? I love it! What a great idea. Chaps and Emma look wonderful (you and Grandma too!).

What kind of hound food do you purchase?

Hey OM – For Chaps I purchase Natural Balance Lamb and Brown Rice.

    http://www.naturalbalanceinc.com/dogformulas/allergy.html

For Emma I buy food from the vet. She chows down on Rabbit and Potato

For Emma, this is the only food we discovered after about 14 months of trial and error. Together with her dermatologist we discovered that she was allergic to protein. This food totally stopped the UTIs and cleared up her skin moderately.

We finally settled on this food for Chaps because he seemed to enjoy it. Most foods he would turn his nose up to.

Both kids get a tablespoon of Bob Evans mashed potatoes in hot water mixed into the kibble. Emma can tolerate potatoes.

Emma’s food is sooooooooooo expensive, but I get it at the vet cheaper than this link shows at about 60 bucks a bag.

So, there ya have it! hehehe

I wish we had one of those self serve dog spa’s. It would be so well worth it with 4 dogs to do that.

I used to feed Dick Van Patten’s Natural balance too. And the dogs really love those summer sausage things that’s put out by Natural Balance. I even wrote natural balance a few years ago and got the rescue a few boxes of sample foods and treats. We gave them out when we adopted out the dogs. I eventually switched because it was too expensive to feed 4 dogs natural balance. I switched to Purina One.

I know. Both of the kids eat expensive food. In one end and out the other…..

Cindy – Purina One that’s what Nell and Sophie eat. Our store just had a sale on the big bags – 18 lb bag I think (with a bonus 3 lbs/bag)for $10! We bought extra – that’s a lot of food for $10! LuLu (cat) eats Purina One as well. Guess we should buy purina stock.

21 lbs for $10 ? NO way! I pay $18 for an 18 lb bag here and that’s at Wal-Mart! Taz the cat at our house eats Purina One too.

Jethro and Ozzie eat the Healthy Weight maintenance.

Harriet and Rugs eat the senior 7 yrs and older.

We eat Nutro lamb and rice but we have no more dry or itchy skin. The price is worth not to have the vet bills for their itching. Dirty Hairy’s looks really neat. My daughter took her shia-poo to them for grooming too. We have a good set up in our downstairs shower for a bath – they would freak out to go out for a bath. We do need a nail trim though. No storms are predicted today!! YEAH

What treats were involved with this spa day? Chaps and Emma must have some special treats to complete the special day out.
