Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and swimming hound lovers.  I was just over at Hal’s blog sniffing around and saw that Hal is taking swimming lessons.  Oh, I really enjoyed reading all about it.  Here is the link if you want to see what a good swimmer himz is. SWIMMING LESSON

What a nice lap pool!  Wish I had one of those myself.  Wouldn’t that be cool to have one in your house?

More loving a swimming Hal later….Cat, Chaps and Emma

I think Hal was scared and really didn’t like the pool.

I don’t think the swimming lessons were Hal’s idea. Ha! But it was probably good to get him exposed to swimming especially if you have a pool. And also getting the right equipment so that the dog can safely exit the pool. They had a nice resting place on each side of this wading pool. I like wading pools too. I just wish pools weren’t so much maintenance.

I don’t think most dogs like the water too much, that is if they are not water dogs. I think it is great exercise for basset hounds because of their long back. I know I wanted Emma to do it for therapy after her hemilaminectomy but it was just too expensive. So, I stuck to her other therapy sessions instead.

Cindy I agree, pools are so much work.

I agree Maureen, Hal didn’t like swimming. There was one point in the middle of the video where he sounded like he was groaning.

Swimming really is good for the hounds though.

Thanks for the update on Hal Cat.

buster demon beast that he is broke thru the fence of a friends pool & took a few laps one one day..while i raced over to save the fool from drowning. he very calmly swam & didn’t seem to be in any distress…i looked like i was having a coronary tho. this was a regular above ground pool..he had slipped thru the rungs on the locked pool fence.

    damn him.

i would loved to have had him had water therapy when he in jured his back but it was too $$$ so i just did regular therapy at home with him..fool would probably not enjoyed swimming within the confines of a guarded pool anyway.

Yep, Lois, I wanted to have Emma in water therapy but it was toooo expensive. I also agree with Mary from TX, it is very good exercise. Especially, like Hal’s family does it, with a teacher! I expect it saves some heart attacks Lois! hehehe
