A basset hound in Venice….Bella!
Updated with a picture of my Julian and his Dad….
Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Italian vacation lovers…….
Ahhhhhhhh…….summer in Italy. What could be more delightful? Recently, my nephew Julian and his family traveled to the delicious county of Italy. Rome, Florence, then Venice. They had a magical time. I sat for hours and hours listening to the stories of David, the Vatican, gondola rides under the bridge of sighs, the food, the country side, the this, the that….Really, it was quite captivating to hear about Italy through the eyes of my darling Julian.
Then, after the 423rd and final picture we all had a big sigh and felt like ordering pizza, which we did. Then Julian turned to me and said,
“Aunt Kit Cat, I saw a basset hound in Venice.”
Can you imagine my face looking at him? He knew immediately what I was saying with my one eyebrow raised.
“Yes, Aunt Kit Cat, Mom got a picture. “
Me: “E-mail her and tell her to send it right now, PRONTO!”
I think the 424th picture is my favorite. I would take a gondola ride with this Italian Stallion any day. BELLA!
More loving Venice later…..Cat, Chaps and Emma
OMG! What a handsome Basset! I think next time they should lead the sight seeing details with the Bassets that were seen! (Must be what the raised eyebrow was about!) I know whenever anyone is telling me about travels , my first question is “Did you see any Bassets?” LOL
Good thing Julian left the basset sighting for last. He may not have been able to get through the rest of the pictures! I’m so glad Julian had a good time. What a lucky lad he is for being able to travel and experience these things.
Beautiful basset!
Pawsome!!! Julian is so cute!:) Ahh, how I love Venice:) In October, 2004, we met Nimbus, a HUGE senior gentlehound (and quite cloud-like;), while we were visiting Beaune, France. Right before we left, we had put in our application with Tristate for a Basset. I took it as a sign that we were meant to have a houndie!! We adopted our first boy, Harley, in December of ’04:) A year later we met two Bassets in Siena named Ernesto and Calisto. People probably thought I was a nut since when I saw them in the piazza I went somewhat ape (well, of COURSE)! We are traveling to France and Italy again in October and I will be on the lookout for more houndies, most certainly! I know I have pics somewhere:)…

Mary, what a nice and wonderful story. I so enjoyed reading it. You know we all would love seeing your pictures as well. I love seeing and hearing about hounds from around the world!
Cindy, he had a magical time. Probably life changing.
Hounds make the whole world a better place!
This Basset looks like she is checking out the new Italian fashions.
