Colonel Dan and other heroes received our care package!

October 8th, 2011 - 7:07 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Colonel Dan Lovers!  We have some heroes in bassethoundtown and we love them.  Remember Dan, Sandy, Zoey, Emma and Haley?  Oh sure you do!

Well, Dan is now a Colonel and we want to all congratulate him for that!

The residents wanted to send a care package and I started whipping one up!

Some of the residents sent a few things that were added later.  I also added some other stuff!

TP rolls were used as packing material!  hehehe

Do you want to read an article about Dan?  It is sooooooo interesting!

It explains what our bassethoundtown resident is doing over in Afghanistan right now!  It is so totally pawsome!

Well, the care package arrived!  YES!  Here is an e-mail from our Dan….

“Hello to all the four-legged (and two) residents at Basset Hound Town,
this is your friend Dan emailing you from Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan!
I wanted to send you a short note to tell you how much we appreciated
your box of goodies, which we received in the mail yesterday.  Opening
the box was akin to Christmas morning and the level of excitement is
clearly evident on our faces in the photos.  I am the one in the back
holding my favorite cookies:  Nutter Butters!  As many of you know, my
wife Sandy has been a member of the South Texas Basset Hound rescue
group for some time and through her I have experienced the love and
uniqueness of basset hounds like never before.  My two step-daughters,
Emma and Zoey, are both rescues and now live wonderful (and spoiled!)
lives in the Kohler-Kral household in Houston, TX.  Anyways, I will keep
this short by once again expressing my thanks on behalf of our group.
Having been deployed to multiple wars and Theaters over my 27-year
career, I can’t tell you how much the Troops appreciate the support of
our fellow countrymen and women.  It really makes a huge difference in
our daily lives while overseas.  By the way, the other day I ran into
“Major Timmy” here on base who just happens to be serving his country as
a therapy dog for our Wounded Warriors still in Theater.  All I can say
about him is that he would make fellow dogs proud everywhere with what
he accomplishes on a daily basis!  Thanks again and all the best.”

Sincerely,

I just wanted to say hello to Major Timmy. I was the person who raised him from a puppy of 11 Weeks. I am glad he is helping our Troops and contributing on a daily basis to the health and well-being of all that are serving. He is a fantastic companion and he brought many smiles/laughter to my life. Glad to see my buddy is doing well and is helping others, as he also helped me.

Be Well, Safe, Gods-Speed for A Safe Return home for all
