Happy Birthday… To The Grandest Maw of all Maws!

October 10th, 2011 - 6:06 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Grandma Lovers!  Today is Chaps and Emma’s Grandmaws birthday and we had such a great day.  That is why it has taken me so long to post this birthday wish!

Last night Chaps, Emma and I decorated the hallway that leads up to their Grandmaw’s house with many messages! This is about a third of them!

IMG_4525

This morning, as she went out for her paper, she was overwhelmed with about 20 messages from her fans (us)!

We spent the day helping my BFF.  She had her cat, Duncan go missing and we are all tore up over it.

I took the birthday girl out for dinner.  We bought a take away order of steak fries, no salt for the kids!

I really thought the best gift of all would have been for us to find Duncan but he is still missing.  Poor sweet orange boy.

Happy birthday Grandma.  We love you more than all of the steak fries in the world!

Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

P.S. Come home Duncan!  Momma misses you!

Just a cute pic for your viewing pleasure!

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Elder Homeless Basset Hound Lovers….Well, we all know the residents of basset hound town are certainly one of those kind of lovers!

This morning Emma and I had a few administrative tasks to attend to.  First off, we had the count the money we made for House of Puddles at the 2011 Basset Hound Nationals.

IMG_4516

The grand total (drum roll please)  297.00! Emma will toss in 3 dollars to bump it up to 300.00.  3 is our lucky number.  Thank you to everyone who supported HOP at the Nationals!

Next on the agenda, Emma received  a congratulatory phone call from her Grandma for winning a month in the 2012 Sr. Hounds Abound Calendar.

IMG_4519

“Thank you Grandma for voting for me!”  “Yes, I know I look cute in that pink raincoat!”

“Yes, Grandma, Mommy gave me extra treats this morning….”

Emma Wanda (her grandma middle name) Rudert help raise 800.00 dollars for Sr. Hounds Abound.  She has her place of honor in the Sr. Hounds Abound Calendar firmly under her paw.

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Contest Lovers!

EMMA GOT A MONTH!

Thank you from Emma aka Shimlette!

IMG_1791

This just in from Wen…

Dear all,
The contest is over, and we have 12 hounds who will have their pictures on the months of 2012.
I wish I could create 18 more months, to have all 30 be up there.  I can’t.

The count is checked and checked again, as I do that each day of the contest.

The top 12 are. In order of highest votes first:

1  Abby-Beth Fuller
2  Emma –Cat Rudert
3  Sister Daisy- Debbie Winchester
4  Honey Bea-  John and Cyndi Grove
5  Ben – Douglas Dropp
6  Elvis – Angelika Hastings
7  Molly- Laura Salmon
8  Jean Paul – Jackie Chazey
9  Willow – Senior Houndsabound
10 Emmett – Maddy Miller
11 Janey – Amanda Sherwin
12 Chloe – Trish Hall

Congrats to the top 12,  you all pushed and pushed for the votes and worked your way into the top.
And for the rest of the contestants,  Congrats also, as you have certainly helped with the fundraising efforts for the Bounders.  That truly is the bottom line of the calendar, and I am grateful beyond your imagination for the support and effort you have all put into getting votes for your hounds.
I know there is disappointment, but please look at it that you have made a huge difference to these seniors here.  I look at their faces each day, and I can tell you, if you were to ever come meet them,  you would realize that everything you have done,  means the world to them, and to me. I am not good with words,  but I have tears for the generosity and kindness of the folks who send support to the Bounders. You have my heartfelt respect and gratitude, each of you.

I will be sending out a newsletter on Monday morning with the announcement, and also announce to the DD tomorrow, but feel free to share with whoever you want to share with.

If you are one of the top 12,  please email me with your choice of month and we will start to get them in place. 1st spot will get 1st choice and we will go on down the line.

Thank you ALL,  again!

wen and the Bounders       Mona,  Nathan,  Willow,  Noah,  Esty,  Buddy Love,  Delta Burke,  Ollie,  Lucas,   Bona,   Duke, and Duchess,   Eddie,  Val and Suzi…..and then there is Scooter…..

Colonel Dan and other heroes received our care package!

October 8th, 2011 - 7:07 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Colonel Dan Lovers!  We have some heroes in bassethoundtown and we love them.  Remember Dan, Sandy, Zoey, Emma and Haley?  Oh sure you do!

Well, Dan is now a Colonel and we want to all congratulate him for that!

The residents wanted to send a care package and I started whipping one up!

IMG_4319

Some of the residents sent a few things that were added later.  I also added some other stuff!

TP rolls were used as packing material!  hehehe

Do you want to read an article about Dan?  It is sooooooo interesting!

It explains what our bassethoundtown resident is doing over in Afghanistan right now!  It is so totally pawsome!

Well, the care package arrived!  YES!  Here is an e-mail from our Dan….

“Hello to all the four-legged (and two) residents at Basset Hound Town,
this is your friend Dan emailing you from Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan!
I wanted to send you a short note to tell you how much we appreciated
your box of goodies, which we received in the mail yesterday.  Opening
the box was akin to Christmas morning and the level of excitement is
clearly evident on our faces in the photos.  I am the one in the back
holding my favorite cookies:  Nutter Butters!  As many of you know, my
wife Sandy has been a member of the South Texas Basset Hound rescue
group for some time and through her I have experienced the love and
uniqueness of basset hounds like never before.  My two step-daughters,
Emma and Zoey, are both rescues and now live wonderful (and spoiled!)
lives in the Kohler-Kral household in Houston, TX.  Anyways, I will keep
this short by once again expressing my thanks on behalf of our group.
Having been deployed to multiple wars and Theaters over my 27-year
career, I can’t tell you how much the Troops appreciate the support of
our fellow countrymen and women.  It really makes a huge difference in
our daily lives while overseas.  By the way, the other day I ran into
“Major Timmy” here on base who just happens to be serving his country as
a therapy dog for our Wounded Warriors still in Theater.  All I can say
about him is that he would make fellow dogs proud everywhere with what
he accomplishes on a daily basis!  Thanks again and all the best.”

Sincerely,

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Voting for Emma Lovers….We want to thank you from the bottom of a bassets belly for all of the votes and support.  Tonight at midnight is the cut off for spending a dollar per vote for our darlin’ and special Shimlette.  Currently she is second place behind Abby who is loved by Beth Fuller.

You will not believe this, but we met Beth at the Nationals last week.  She is such a sweet gal and her hounds are beautiful.  Beth, if you are reading this, it was so much fun meeting you.  Here is Beth with her hounds!
