Darling Clancy Dancy has gone over the rainbow bridge:(

December 12th, 2011 - 12:12 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Clancy McCarty Lovers…..

Clancy McCarty left us over the weekend and made his journey over the rainbow bridge.  Clancy was the beloved hound of Charlene and Glenn and lived outside of San Antonio, TX.  Here is Clancy playing with his cousin Colby Chaps just this past September.

ColbyChapsClancyplaying

Wow, look at the resemblance between the 2 hounds.  Colby Chaps and Clancy were of the same blood lines but from different breeders.  Colby Chaps lives with Audra, Mike and Jourdan.  Audra is Charlene and Glenn’s daughter.

ColbyChapsClancyCousins

Clancy was up in years and I am not sure howl old he was.  Audra – please add his age to the comment section.  As you can see, Clancy turned into a snow white boy and aged with so much grace and dignity.

He was pure joy to his family who will miss him greatly.

He lived his life in Charlene’s arms.

The same arms that held him as he went to meet his brother Bailey who left us earlier this year.

Bailey

(Bailey ATB)

Richard was waiting for Clancy as well.

Facebook find of the day – most interesting belly rub!

December 9th, 2011 - 10:10 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and interesting belly rub lovers…..Well, this hound takes the cake or should I say the tree?

This is the hound of one of my “friends” on facebook and I am pretty sure they are from Spain.  I can’t read a word of it but I have a lot of Spanish “friends”.

Spanishhound

Way back in 2005 when I started bassethoundtown I had  no problem buying the .com domain name.  Howl ever, there was a Spanish forum (I learned later) called bassethoundtown.it.  I think that was it.  So, now everyone with a hound in Spain wants to be my “friend” on facebook.  Hopefully, they eventually figure it out and find the page they are looking for, but I enjoy looking at all of their pictures.  hehehehehe

More interesting belly rubs later….Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

P.S. can you imagine seeing that under your tree Christmas morning?

Meet Izzy and Abby…new bassethoundtown residents!

December 7th, 2011 - 1:01 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and new resident lovers.  The new residents are Izzy and Abby.  I met them through their Mom Heather who was interested in learning more about glaucoma:( for Izzy.  Izzy has already lost one eye at 2 years of age and will most likely lose the other eye.  The remaining eye is showing signs of pressure increases and Izzy is now on drops.  I was telling Heather to start talking to Abby a lot more now.  Also, I suggested she start using code words and sounds to alert Abby.  For example, I was telling Heather that I tap on the dishwasher when I am going to open it and Emma will leave the room.  Heather had to laugh because this is what Izzy does when she opens the dishwasher….

Izzy

Izzy is in charge of the rinse cycle!  Too funny!  I love it.

Izzy has a sister named Abby!

Abby

I was also telling Heather that Abby will probably be a big help to Izzy when and if she goes blind.  I know Chap became much closer to Emma.  That is when food is not around!  LOL

Welcome Izzy and Abby!

More loving new residents later….Cat, Chaps and Emma

It’s that time of the year again and Santa helpers are here!

December 5th, 2011 - 8:08 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Santa Helpers Lovers….

It is that time of the year when we hoist the extra large wreath out and hang it with pride.  Did I say we?  LOL.  It really is the doing of Wade, my friend and wonderful caretaker of my yard.  What would we do without our Wade?

photo 1

Not only did he take said wreath home to re-string all of the lights and add more, his sweet wife pulled the branches out and made it twice as thick.   It was just stunning.  See those shutters?  He also repaired and painted them.  Our house looks like a lovely lady this holiday season.

The Mayor held his position firm at the window directing our Wade every step of the way!

photo 2

Look howl distinguished the Mayor looks framed by the renovated shutters.  I just love them back on our home.

Now for night fall!

Twice as many lights as last year and….THEY ALL WORK!  Thank Dog…..Thank Wade!

More loving the holiday night later……Cat, Chaps and Emma

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and soon to be Romeo Lovers…..

I just thought this video was so cute. And what about Sally with her tongue hanging out?  hehehe

“Who has their cranky pants on?” One of the best lines in YouTube history…LOL

An elder gentlehound named Fred needs a new home…..

December 4th, 2011 - 12:12 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and gentlehound lovers.  Fred is looking for new home.

Fred is currently at the San Francisco SPCA.

SFFred

Goodness sakes alive, poor thing lived with someone for 8 years and due to a “housing” situation his guardian could no longer care for Fred.

I was sniffing around YouTube and found this video that was just posted of Fred.  He visited a local radio station to plead his case.  I sure hope someone has room on their couch for this elder gentlehound. I can just see Fred taking a stroll around the golden gate bridge.  Wouldn’t that be nice for the Holidays?

In a different time and place I would have taken Fred in a heart beat.  Howl ever, we all know that I live with a very grumpy Mayor and he is boss in this house.

More hoping some loving person finds Fred soon and makes his golden gate dreams come true.

Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

Facebook find of the day….

Join bassethoundtown for a holiday adventure!

December 3rd, 2011 - 7:07 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Holiday Hound Lovers…..Well, today we decided to try and sneak into our favorite downtown building.  They have a beautiful display of Christmas trees and it is just so festive.  Turns out the SPCA was holding an adoption event so we blended right in.  The security guard actually said we were not allowed in the building unless we were with the SPCA but he said, “what the heck” and offered to take our picture!  Gotta love that holiday cheer!

NP2

It was funny, as per usual we drew a huge crowd and people were asking us if Chaps and Emma were up for adoption.  Can you imagine Chaps and Emma up for adoption?  It was pretty funny and fun!

Next stop Poinsettia Shopping!  I hope the pictures do our local Ft. Thomas florist and greenhouses justice.

I wonder which one I should pick?  hehehe

PS1

Grandma found the perfect plant!

PS2

Santas Little Helpers were waiting in the basset hauling vehicle.

Santahelper

The owner of the garden center struck up a conversation with me.  He was telling me about the nicest looking basset hounds he had ever seen.  He went on to describe MY DAD and howl this person he was going on and on about would walk these gorgeous looking hounds all over our town.

What a wonderful memory for him and now for me.

It was nice to hear about my Dad today.  Very nice.

More loving greenhouses full of Poinsettias and memories later….Cat, Chaps and Emma

Rock a bye baby….

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and bassets in rocking chair lovers.  That is one cute baby that likes to rock!

I used to rock Emma to sleep when she was just a young pup.  She would be asleep in seconds.

More rock a bye babies later…..Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma
