Creatures of habit in bassethoundtown;)

May 18th, 2012 - 12:12 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and creatures of habit lovers….Since Emma has been on the course of steroids and liver antibiotics she is what I would consider back to her ole self.  Again, we know that this treatment is not a cure but it sure is nice to see her eating good and reporting to her normal place in the kitchen for meals.

The Mayors is very pleased as well! He was as worried sick as all of us were.  You know howl he worries.

He wants to get back to the ole habits of bassethoundtown and get under Mommy’s feet while she is fixing breakfast! Emma does all of the barking and yelling at me to move faster.  Chaps love that part.

Thank goodness I had my phone.  I never want to forget this picture.

Today is going to be a good day!

Shimlette ate good….

But as you can see there is some water retention in her abdomen.  This is not uncommon and I am currently researching what to do.

We took our morning walk and she loved it.

We are such creatures of habit.  We love our routine………

and so does Verna!

Top row, middle blue pot! Goodness sakes, I had been looking and looking to replace these pots and I finally found the ones I was looking for.  I no sooner get them in and planted which is VERY LATE for Verna and she shows up within hours.  Can you believe howl habitual she is? I actually saw her watching the back porch for weeks.

Fitting that she picked the robin’s egg blue flower pot.  I will let you know if she sticks around.  I can’t imagine why she wouldn’t.

More having habits later….Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

What a happy blog! It’s good to see! Harriet does the same thing. As little as she is compared to the boys, but she’s the boss. She barks and carries on the whole time I’m fixing their plates. Rugby barks some and Jethro has started barking a lot more too but they don’t cause as much ruckus as Harriet.

A bonded pair, that’s so cool. Jethro was very bonded with his first brother that was much older than him and it wasn’t pretty when he passed. I have a lot of experience with grieving when a bonded pair is split up. It was hard, but things did get better and it all worked out.

Emma eating good is the best sign. I always know when mine are sick because they won’t eat. Getting back to eating is a positive thing. I wonder if there’s some kind of water pill for dogs like they have for humans? I bet there is.

Love seeing Verna again! I guess your new pots will just have to wait.

That photo of Chaps and Emma show what tough supervisors they both are.

I am glad to hear that Emma is back to her old self.

Your yard/garden sounds and looks like something from a storybook.

Hi Emma ! Hi Chaps! Do you know how adorable you are in this photo? I love it when they use each other as pillows like this ! My late Buford and Esther were always posing like this! So sweet and glad Emma is rallying so well! And Verna, well she knows a good thing, now doesn’t she? We had sofits and the eaves of our house sealed up this year and the birds are still looking to nest here! We even had one bird go inside the incomplete eave and run back and forth voicing it’s disapointment until it found a friendlier tree to build it’s nest in instead!

I’m so happy to read your blog today!!!! I can’t tell you how happy that makes me that Emma is doing better, and eating again. I know the steroids make them drink a lot, but they also make them feel so much better. Like you said it’s not a cure, but at this point you just take it one day at a time. I was wondering if Verna was coming back this year….what a nice surprise to see her photo too. We will continue to lift you and Emma up in prayer. Your always in my thoughts. Give Emma a kiss for me and of course Big Daddy too!!!!

Cat, There is nothing more satisfying then seeing a hound eat. So wonderful that little Emma found her appetite; she looks so happy and Chaps so content!

I decided to put her on 1/2 a water pill. No Doritos because of the salt. She likes melba toast so that is her new special treat. I will report on the patty tomorrow. Sweet girl…is sleeping right now and I feel like a hawk.
