BLT and a hound!

June 13th, 2012 - 1:01 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and BLT Lovers….I have seen this Hellmanns commercial almost ad nauseum over the past several weeks.  Every time I see it I think to myself, “who spreads mayo over bacon like that?”

But get this.  I have never seen this ending.  I think they cut it out of the TV commercial.  I cannot believe that someone like me would miss that! I just would not!

I saw the video on Lois Lema’s facebook page so I like to give credit where credit is due.  Also Lois said that she knows the hound!  Who is it Lois?  I hope he or she got a bite!

mayohound

More not spreading mayo over bacon later.  On the toast, always on the toast!  Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

PS – Hellmanns or Miracle Whip?

PPS – In 1905, Richard Hellmann from Vetschau, Germany, opened a delicatessen on Columbus Avenue in New York City, where he used his wife’s recipe to sell the first ready-made mayonnaise. It became so popular that he began selling it in bulk to other stores. In 1912 he built a factory for producing Mrs. Hellmann’s mayonnaise. It was mass marketed and called Hellmann’s Blue Ribbon Mayonnaise. It was so successful, Hellmann closed his delicatessen by 1917 to devote full time to his mayonnaise business.

In 1933 Kraft developed a new dressing similar to mayonnaise, but as a less expensive alternative. Premiering at the Century of Progress World’s Fair in Chicago in 1933, Miracle Whip was an instant success as a condiment on fruits, vegetables and salads.

What a great part for a basset! I bet he didn’t have to be trained for that part.

I use Miracle Whip Light because it’s low calorie. Ronald has to have mayonnaise. I do eat the real stuff on occassion.

You know what? I don’t think I have ever had Miracle Whip. Isn’t that funny? Maybe I have in a diner or something and didn’t know it. My favorite mayo type spread is horseradish sauce, aka horsey sauce. I became addicted to it as a kid in the old Roy Rogers restaurants. OMDawg! That was and still the best sauce ever but I did not ask that question!

    Now I really want a BLTw/C (cheese)

I think the Basset should have turned up his nose at the BLT with no Mayo on it, and then the guy should have added the Mayo and the Basset grabs it.

Shame on anyone eating and not sharing with a Basset!!!!

I just found this site because of Lois’s post. Thank you Lois for such a nice introduction. The basset’s name is Brandy and the actor with the sandwich, Brad, did offer her the sandwich at one point but she managed to only pull out a piece of lettuce slathered with mayo. She promptly spit it out and it hit the floor with a SPLAT causing the entire crew to burst into laughter. By the way Brandy is a Field Champion too.
