This is a Lovey Mystery…With UPDATE
UPDATE – When Grandma came in with the clean Lovey for Chaps. He seemed interested right away…Was he going to nibble?
Here is the answer via a mini clip.
If you can’t see the video clip here is a still from it.
Is it a fluke? We will try again tomorrow and see what happens after dinner. We think that maybe it was a smell that was turning him off or just maybe he needed a nudge. Love that guy….
Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Mystery Lovers….Well, for about the past 5 months Chaps has turned his back on his favorite toy which we call his “lovie”. See it right behind him?
Every evening, after he ate his dinner he would go to his lovie and nibble. It has a rattle in it and our Mayor would gently rattle his lovie and nuzzle it until he took his after dinner nap, most of the time falling asleep with his lovie in his paws.
He has not done this in about 5 months. What is going on?
So today, Grandma gathered up all of the toys and washed them.
That is Lovey on the right.
So, the real test will be when Grandma brings in Lovey at dinner time which is about in 30 seconds. She is actually about 30 seconds late.
I will be reporting back after we see what happens.
I better get my camera.
More hoping he loves his lovey later….Cat, Chaps and Emma ATB
That has to be the cutest picture I have ever seen!:)
His lovey toy in the washing machine; perhaps he wanted to tell you it was pretty much slobbert up and needed a wash job. Can’t wait what he will do when Grandma presents it to him after the wash and dry job.
Big kiss and belly rubs for the Mayor!
P.S. Did Early Morning Misty Air ever love on his lovey?
I am waiting for your post with baited breath!!!!!
What’s going on with Lovey??????
Inquiring minds demand to know!
I’m waiting too! Maybe your spending time watching him play with Lovie?
Just to let the residents know, we never put soap in the toys. Just hot water. I just don’t trust that all of the soap will be rinsed out completely. So…
I got to see the clip cuz I’m here at work! Yeah! I think giving Lovey a bath helped. Rugs is the only one at our household that plays with toys. And he’s the old man at 13 years old! He’s just too cute. He grabs a toy every time I come home from work and in the mornings when I open up the doggie room and let them in the living area. He just grabs a big mouth full and sometimes he gets several toys. He walks around and throws them up in the air. This is his celebration that Mommy is home.
That’s smart think Cathy!
maybe it had too much smell of emma & was upsetting for him..because she was sick & failing she might have had a stronger odor than usual & the toys might have retained some of that odor. while he liked the toy maybe the scent was upsetting..
cleaning removed the odor of failing & made the toy “safe” again.
maybe try washing the thundershirt ..might be the same issue…
I just threw the Thundershirt down the shoot. You might be right there Lois. Our hounds are so smart and so sensitive. My Dad used to call Chaps the delicate soul.
Dear Cat and sweet loveable Mayor Chaps,
Do any of the older generation remember seeing the commercial with the sewing thing that is hand held? I think it was called the “handy-stitching” sewing thing. We had a hound at the time that would as we called it “handy-stitching” his toys; or as you called it with Chaps, “nibbling” his lovey. Your clip was just so funny and we have wonderful memories about “nibbling” on the toys! Give that boy a “Diamond” treat for me and lots of kisses and belly rubs too!
