Lois Lema, Bassethoundtown resident takes Emma’s picture to Stephen Huneck’s Dog Chapel
Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Emma sharing her beauty at the Dog Chapel Lovers….
Our friend and resident Lois Lema took Emma’s picture with her on a road trip to Vermont.
Lois travels in her Basset Hauling Vehicle which she calls the “Big Ugly” so Emma was transported in style to:
Stephen Huneck’s Dog Chapel at Dog Mountain.
Emma rested with Sally and Buster on the queen sized mattress in back of the Big Ugly!
Emma got to ride past the pretty pink patty barn! Howl fitting for our girl!
Emma took a hiking safety lesson with Lois and her pack.
On the trail they stumbled across this beautiful rock sculpture. When Lois sent me the picture I immediately saw Emma in the rock formation behind the sculpture. I tried to outline what I saw here.
Here it is without my outline….
Here Emma is taking a little rest in the fun blue chair….
While Lois pulls into the the camp ground…..
Now it is time to head to the Dog Chapel….
With much care Lois placed our Emma on the wall of honor and devotion inside of the chapel. She shines with such glory!
What a wonderful and loving tribute to our Emma. We cannot thank you enough Lois for shepherding our darling and beloved Emma’s picture to such a place of honor and tranquility.
I hope some day to visit this very special place that holds a beautiful spot in my heart.
More Loving Lois and her journeys later….Cat, Chaps and Emma ATB and at the Dog Chapel….
That was a GREAT tribute! I see Emma in the rock sculpture too. How cool. Thanks so much Lois and gang for taking Emma along on this very special trip.
it was an honor to bring miss emma along on our journey. the dog chapel is an amazing place & to know that she will be safe in such a special place along with our miss casey & mr cooper makes me feel good.
each year i head to nh & vermont to recharge my soul. i need to go. i visit some friends, hike some of the same trails & visit some of the same places…sometimes i toss in a new spot or 2 but i always visit the chapel. stephen huneck was a wonderful man..i miss him. his widow is dedicated to keeping his memory alive.
it was a joy to have miss emma on our journey. she always calmed me down when i needed a calming force…so it was the least i could do.
What a thoughtful moving gift. I am sure all the residents of Basset Hound Town appreciate you care and concern for Our Emma.
Thank you for all your kindness.
I think, but I am not sure, that some months ago I heard about this wonderful place on NPR?? Howl KEWL is this!!? What a wonderful tribute to our baroooootiful Emma!

you might have..there have been many articles, pieces etc. over the course of years many different stories have been done about the chapel & grounds & now especially there are some as his widow, gwen has been trying to keep the name alive. more interest = more donations = less chance of losing the chapel.
stephen grew despondent a few years ago over thought of losing the chapel & grounds & having to lay off most of the staff & suicided.
as i have mentioned..he was amazing…his smile filled a room as did his spirit..his artwork was filled with joy & you can see he certainly nailed the relationship between canines & their people.
