A Gift of Summer in November….

November 10th, 2012 - 11:11 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Summer in November Lovers…Today it was 72 degrees in bassethoundtown.  Freaky for sure!  It was such a gift because I had some last minute clean up to do in the garden.

I did all of the heavy lifting as the Mayor supervised on his first day of retirement. As I emptied the flower pots of dead flowers I also furminated his honor.

Finding it hard to give up his supervising duties, the Mayor followed me down to the garage as I put up the flower pots….

I was very excited to see this.  He has trouble going down steps so this was a sign that his acupuncture is helping.  He did it all by himself without me guiding his rear end.

What a nice gift of summer in November…

More loving more of it tomorrow….Cat, Chaps and Emma ATB guiding the Mayor’s hips…

Wow, that is great that Chaps is getting around better! Your yard looks good even now at the end of the flower season! What is that colorful foliage growing on the side of the steps? It is pretty.

Oh, It is warm here too, in the 60s which for this time of year is unreal!

How good to hear Chaps is doing so well on the steps!
Don’t you just HATE dumping out all the flower pots and hunkering down for the winter? I sure do. Winter just makes my bones ache. The best part about the cold weather is that all I want to do is make soup and eat grilled cheese sandwiches!
Cat, you didn’t say anything about the earthquake that happened 2 or 3 days ago, near Whitesburg, Kentucky. I think it was a 4.3. Did your and your Mom feel it? Did Chaps ?? There was one in Maine 2 or 3 weeks ago. We felt it here in Hudson, N.H.!! It was the first one I ever felt, and DON’T care to feel another one!!!

Debbie – I am not sure what it is called. My Dad planted it about a decade ago. I know it is plant that grows around rocks. I absolutely love it. I will try to find out what it is and let you know. I actually want to buy some more of it this spring. It turns that pretty orange color in November.

Karen – I have been putting off that flower pot job for a few weeks but I just had to get to it this weekend. It is sad. I hate, hate, hate winter. I don’t like anything about it. Oh, yes I forgot. Soup and grilled cheese. I live for that!

I did not hear anything about the earthquake!!! Wow, I am going to google it and see exactly when it happened and if I recall anything. Chaps is very good at feeling earthquakes and I bet he did.

I was just looking at NH on the Zillow map last night. Of course you guys are getting all kinds of attention for all of the woman that are in government. I think that is so impressive. I was wondering if NH had any beach front. I love looking at maps. I hope you don’t feel any EQs ever again!

There was an earthquake last night Karen (in Whitesburg) at about midnight. Chaps was very restless but that is really not that unusual. He might have felt it but I did not. Scary! Oh, oh, oh…..you know what is so funny? I just thought of this. I watched that old Charlton Heston movie last night! EARTHQUAKE! Isn’t that funny? Too weird!

We were at the horse park in Lexington at noon when the earthquake was supposed to hit. I saw that it was not too far from where we were at the Kentucky high school state cross country meet. We did not feel a thing!! I am always glad to get the house ready for winter and then look forward to spring. Glad Chaps is doing better. Bumper fell down our steps last week and was so afraid to go down again. Hope he don’t fall again.

Welcome to Tuesday Morning….Today Chaps has a doctors appointment with Dr. Leick’s vet. This vet, Dr. Weber has a more holistic approach to medical care. We are excited to meet him. My main thing with a vet is being able to diagnose. A caring diagnostician. That is what I want. I will keep everyone posted. Looking forward to this visit. The Mayor is all harnessed up and we are waiting on Grandma to come down. Poor thing got that horrible cold/flu thing I did but she was able to knock it quicker than I was. Thank Dog. More later….Cat and Chaps

Well – Welcome to Tuesday afternoon. Very odd but we did not go into Chaps appointment. I just did not like the look of the place. I know that sounds funny but it was so run down and falling down almost. I could never leave Chaps there if I had to for a procedure. I am sure Dr. Weber is very good and a wonderful doctor but I need a bit more than a shanty lean two. Really, it was that bad. Oh well…we tried.

I always say trust your gut. But alot of excellent vets do not practice in modern buildings. You can always try again or ask Dr.Leick for another name. Hope Grandma is feeling better soon. I have had that bug for the past week. Not fun.

Sandy – I totally agree with you about that building but this one looked dirty and almost falling down. When we pulled up I said, “No this can’t be the vet clinic” and I was looking around for it and then I saw the sign. It looked like a dilapidated shell from a natural disaster. I was actually afraid for the Mayor to walk on the floors. Anyway, I sure had high hopes. I wish he made house calls but it is way to far away. It took us about a half hour to get there. I just cannot figure out why we cannot find a great vet. I am going to keep looking!

Hope you feel better soon. This bug is the worst ever!
