A loved filled life – an Icon in the basset world says good bye to his residents…

January 10th, 2013 - 1:01 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Loved Filled Life Lovers….The Mayor was all of ours but of course mostly mine.  He was very proud of his position in Bassethoundtown.  Chaps Wayne Rudert served as the first Mayor of our town and will be remembered as benevolent, philanthropic, and larger than life itself.

In his memory some of the residents, unbeknownst to me, got together and collected money in his name and memory for a memorial for me.  What ever money was above and beyond the memorial bench and flowers was to be split and sent to the House of Puddles and Sr. Hounds Abound in his name.  After the bench and flowers were paid for I have a whopping total of 500.00 to split in his name, memory and honor.  I am just so touched and words cannot express my pride.

On 12-26-12, a day after Chaps passing I was salting the our walk and garden pathway to the ladies room for Hospice to come and respectfully remove our Mayor. He was moved out through the ladies room and down the garden path.

As I was scattering the salt I could taste the salt dust.  My eyes were filled with tears and they were running into my mouth.

I looked up and a man that looked like a young Santa Claus pulled up in a big red truck and had this lovely delivery for me.

These beautiful flowers….

This beautiful garden pathway bench….

It sits right outside my front windows with the Chloe and Lily brass plaque right behind it.

It is very interesting howl all of this came together as a memorial front yard.

All of the tributes are kind of in a straight line.  I really love that.  I know they all do.

There is never enough time with any one you love.

This will be the picture that sits next to his remains.

More coming towards me down the garden path later…..Love, Cat (Chaps and Emma ATB) sitting under the cherry trees…

$500.00? Amazing. Way to go residents!

I think it all is just so very beautiful. Thanks to everyone who made this all happen.

I just love the picture you chose of him walking down the garden path toward you. He was such a handsome and beautiful hound. And yes, he had a very love filled life. He was a very lucky hound to have you as his Mommy.

We love you Mayor Chaps Wayne Rudert. Take care of sweet Emma and Grandpa. Until we meet again…

The Mayor will live on in all of our hearts, along with dearest Emma. Thanks for sharing them with us all.

The bench, the tree, the rosebush … everything in such great alignment and working together in a loving tribute.

    Love you always.

I am going to write each rescue a check and attach a copy of Chaps Memorial Picture to it.

I forgot to add that yesterday it was really a nice day and Grandma and I were able to move the bench outside and take the pictures. It was very touching and comforting to see it all fall in place.

We had just returned home from Hospice for the second time because I forgot his favorite rug and Emma’s gully! Can you believe that? I had also ordered 2 more of his heart shaped paw impressions.

I will show those to the residents soon. Just beautiful.

This is all the best memorial to Chaps, Emma, You, Your Mother and Father.

You all made the world a better place to live in, because of Basset Hound Town and its residents.

I can’t think of a better way to celebrate such wonderful giving lives.

There are no words to describe how the loss of Chaps, our mayor and his precious sister Emma have effected the entire town. At the present time I am dealing with the potential loss of my Gizmo’s eyes. he has glaucoma which came on suddenly. Emma is a testimony to how well a dog can do without eyesight. I only hope that Pally will be as good a helper to Gizmo as Chaps was to Emma. I know the bench and the rest of the memorials will be a comfort to you & grandma. I have the same saying on a garden plaque out front.

0MG Cat, I read this and gasped. I am so sorry! I never got to meet him but I loved him from afar. Sending you hugs and love to help heal your heart. I know Agnes, Lucien, Lilly, Lucille, Becky and Max the really bad siamese cat all welcomed him to the chicken mcnugget bush at the Bridge. ((((((((((Cat)))))))))
