Facebook find of the day – From Russia with Love…

January 13th, 2013 - 2:02 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and From Russia with Love Lovers….

I was sniffing around facebook and ran across a find of the day picture I had to share with the residents.

This guy looks so much like Chaps and Chaps had a coat just like this one.

Burrrrrrrrrr…..it looks so cold.  Here is Chaps in his coat years and years ago.

This was the one and only time he had it on.  He hated it.  Grandma and I were making a movie called:

Hound Zhivago

You must, with hast, go watch this video.  I think we made it back in 2006 or 2007.  At the time it had over 20,000 views.  YouTube took it down due to copyright infringement.  I think they do it much different now and actually link the video to the song.  I should reload it YouTube.

More loving Russian Hounds later….Cat, (Chaps and Emma ATB) never putting on a coat….

WOW!

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and WOW lovers…

Today I was working on sending the memorial checks in honor of Mayor Chaps to House of Puddles and Sr. Hounds Abound.  I printed out 2 Cherry Chaps photos and did a cool laminating job on them.  I was working on that when One Mom e-mailed me and said we had another donation!

100.00 dollars!  Can you imaging that?  So I was able to write each check for 300.00 a piece!

The roses are ones that Grandma dried for Chaps ashes box.  I love them.

So…Grandma and I diligently drove to the PO to mail the honorable Mayor’s memorial donations.

Howl proud we all must be!

More loving a great town later…Cat, (Chaps and Emma ATB) loving all the senior hounds they are helping.

A loved filled life – an Icon in the basset world says good bye to his residents…

January 10th, 2013 - 1:01 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Loved Filled Life Lovers….The Mayor was all of ours but of course mostly mine.  He was very proud of his position in Bassethoundtown.  Chaps Wayne Rudert served as the first Mayor of our town and will be remembered as benevolent, philanthropic, and larger than life itself.

In his memory some of the residents, unbeknownst to me, got together and collected money in his name and memory for a memorial for me.  What ever money was above and beyond the memorial bench and flowers was to be split and sent to the House of Puddles and Sr. Hounds Abound in his name.  After the bench and flowers were paid for I have a whopping total of 500.00 to split in his name, memory and honor.  I am just so touched and words cannot express my pride.

On 12-26-12, a day after Chaps passing I was salting the our walk and garden pathway to the ladies room for Hospice to come and respectfully remove our Mayor. He was moved out through the ladies room and down the garden path.

As I was scattering the salt I could taste the salt dust.  My eyes were filled with tears and they were running into my mouth.

I looked up and a man that looked like a young Santa Claus pulled up in a big red truck and had this lovely delivery for me.

These beautiful flowers….

This beautiful garden pathway bench….

It sits right outside my front windows with the Chloe and Lily brass plaque right behind it.

It is very interesting howl all of this came together as a memorial front yard.

All of the tributes are kind of in a straight line.  I really love that.  I know they all do.

There is never enough time with any one you love.

This will be the picture that sits next to his remains.

More coming towards me down the garden path later…..Love, Cat (Chaps and Emma ATB) sitting under the cherry trees…

January 7, 2013 – Ch. BoBac Duluxe of Switchstand, ROM (ATB)

January 7th, 2013 - 2:02 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and January the 7th, 2013 Lovers…If you have the Senior Hounds Abound Calendar you will see the stunningly beautiful Diva, (Ch. BoBac Duluxe of Switchstand, ROM).  I waited until the last day for people to buy memory days for their hounds on the 2013 SHA calendar and what was left over I bought and submitted pictures.  I will try and blog each time one of those days comes up for that particular hound.

Today is Miss Diva.

Oh, she was so pretty.  I have showed most of the residents this picture before but it is worth framing and hanging on the wall!  hehehe

Diva went over the rainbow bridge years before our Emma did.  She also had primary, bilateral glaucoma when she passed.

Now she is with her twin Shimlette and they both can see again.

More loving memorial days later….Cat, (Chaps and Emma ATB) playing with the Delicious Diva!

Thank you to the residents of bassethoundtown for participating in the Emma 2012 Howl-o-day card donation for House of Puddles!

January 6th, 2013 - 1:01 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and practically a blog in the title lovers.  Yes, In Emma’s memory I will do this fundraiser every year.  I fell a bit behind with advertising the Emma Howl-o-day card fundraiser this year for various reasons.  I did buy 2 ads in the Bugler Basset Hound Magazine.

I just love the Bugler.

There is the money we raised.  It was about 40 dollars.  I bumped up the total and sent 100.00 to Marilyn at House of Puddles just now via paypal.

This is not a part of the money that some of you sent to OneMom in Chaps Memory that will be split between House of Puddles and Sr. Hounds Abound. I have received the tally and will blog about that later.  For now, I wanted to thank those of you who sent us some howl-o-day doe.  The Elders at HOP are not a cheap date and that is for sure!  hehehe

More loving the elders later….Cat, (Chaps and Emma ATB) howling thank you for the dollars…

Who knew a patty could light up a life?

January 5th, 2013 - 1:01 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Patty Bag Lovers…I have let things get a bit behind in our town.  Of course I have been in somewhat of a haze and very sad.  The residents have been so kind and caring.

It was the night before New Years Eve and I was wandering around the house.  I was getting ready to close all of the drapes and looked out the front window.

So, I stepped outside and looked closer.  I had my camera with me and called Grandma to look out her window.

Wow, it was so quite and beautiful.  I really could not believe my eyes. They were red and swollen, was I seeing things?

Of course I took a closer look and I had that catch in your throat that you get when you are choked up.

I noticed that the basset cut out on the bags was actually a cut out of Chaps!

See….

Of course I noticed that immediately.  Then, out of the corner of my eye I saw a red mini cooper idling down the street.  I thought I saw the shape of a basset head in the front seat.

Well…I know of only one red mini cooper that is driven by a basset and that is Nosey.

Hum…here we are.  Nosey, her patty, her Mom Marcie and myself at one of our basset hound walks.

I e-mailed Nosey but her Mom said that she was not sure what Nosey had been up to???

We all know bassets can be very sly…..

Those glowing bags were such a blessing that night.  It was a very hard night and the cut outs of Chaps, hearts and stars warmed my soul….

I am going with Nosey…Thank you darling girls…..

More loving warm souls and warm patties later…Cat, (Chaps and Emma ATB) stacking in the snow…

Orchards, RoRo, and Enzo…

January 2nd, 2013 - 9:09 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and O lovers…

Well, we have the boys over for a few days.  They came baring a gift of condolence for the honorable Mayor and their cousin Chaps.

I put the delicate flowers on the table.  Grandpa used to always call Chaps “the delicate soul” so the orchards are very fitting indeed.

I was sitting at my desk when Romeo and Enzo came in from the back yard.  We picked them up and I left them outside to smell around as usual.  Romeo came in and over to me with a look on his face that I recognized immediately.  It was the face you make when you meet someone in distress and ask, “What Happened?”  He was so concerned.  His head tilted and his brow furrowed.  I told him (now Enzo was at his side”)  “Chaps is all gone.”  Of course I explained this all in full detail but the part that he understood the most were the words, “all gone”.

I can tell they are sad.

It is good to have them around.

More loving caring cousins later….Love, Cat, (Chaps and Emma ATB) napping under orchards…

Colby Chaps wanted to check back in again….

Tonight he partied hardy…

And tomorrow is a new day…

Resolutions need to be thought through….

Do the residents have any?

Grandma and I are actually going to buy a tread mill.  Hopefully we use it!

More loving Colby Chaps and his efforts later…Cat, Chaps and Emma ATB getting lots and lots of walks on green green grass.
