Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Bonded Couple Lovers…I saw this on facebook last night and I had to share in hopes someone might connect with this couple.

They are safe and with a great rescue called Louie’s Legacy.  Link at the bottom of this post.

Sir Atrtemus Dotson “Artie” – 6 yr old Basset Hound –

Sir Atrtemus Dotson "Artie" 6 years old

Artie came in to rescue with Nettie after their owner passed away and despite promising to care for them for the rest of their lives, the deceased man’s mother tried dumping them at the nearest shelter. Ohio Basset Rescue stepped in and two of the three dogs ended up with Louie’s Legacy. Artie is about 70 lbs of big ol’ hound dog. He is extremely friendly and loving with people, including kids and loves attention. He is also generally good with other dogs but has no problem dealing corrections to wild and wily youth. He’d do best with females or possibly submissive males who are adults and calm like him. Artie is housetrained and if at all possible, we’d like to see him placed with Nettie (picture below)  who is so attached to him.

Meet the pair at the Eastgate, (Cincinnati Area) PetSmart 12 – 5 PM on Saturday and 1 – 5 PM Sunday at the Mason PetSmart (Cincinnati Area) unless adopted first.

Now for the darling and delicious Nettie!  Farmgirl Nettie Mae – “Nettie”

9 year old Farmgirl Nettie Mae "Nettie"

9 yr old Basset Hound and Artie came in to rescue with Nettie after their owner passed away and despite promising to care for them for the rest of their lives, the deceased man’s mother tried dumping them at the nearest shelter. Ohio Basset Rescue stepped in and two of the three dogs ended up with Louie’s Legacy. Nettie is a big girl at about 70 lbs. She is happiest when she can follow Artie around and perks up whenever she sees him. She is quite depressed right now and took her owners passing and the changes in her life very, very hard. She is good with all other dogs, men, women and kids, and I can’t see her moving at all quickly after a cat either. Nettie is housetrained and if at all possible, we’d like to see her placed with Artie since she is so attached to him. It is an extra special family who will give a senior dog like Nettie a chance, but the rewards are immense. Nettie’s adoption fee is waived with the help of a caring donor, however you must still meet all adoption requirements to adopt. Meet the pair at the Eastgate PetSmart 12 – 5 PM on Saturday and 1 – 5 PM Sunday at the Mason PetSmart unless adopted first.

She better sleep good because tomorrow we have a picnic planned!

More beauty sleep later…Love, Cat, Daisy Lynn, (Chaps and Emma ATB) dreaming in my dreams…

Daisy Lynn is getting a bit more independent!

April 5th, 2013 - 10:10 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and independent lovers…Well, I have been letting Daisy Lynn out back on her own now for the last few days.  I watch her from the windows and make sure she is not in danger but I think I  have all of that covered – for the most part – but she did pull a night light out of the ground and smashed it in her teeth.  Now, all night lights in her path are pulled out.

Here she is coming back in to check on me….

Daisybackyard

The gardening season is coming up so she will have a big time with us doing all of that.

More swinging ears later…Love, Cat, Daisy Lynn (Chaps and Emma ATB) hoping she finds all the sunny spots in life…

Daisy Lynn would like to show off her Patty!

April 4th, 2013 - 7:07 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Patty Lovers.  I had to share this cute patty picture of our Daisy Lynn.  She adores her belly rubs and this is a sight Grandma and I see very often!

She is such a good little smart puppy.

More showing off later…Love, Cat, Daisy Lynn (Chaps and Emma ATB) getting lots and lots of belly rubs….

Evelyn Leavens 9/25/24 – 4/3/13, Goodbye for now my dear and darling friend

April 3rd, 2013 - 7:07 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Evelyn Leavens Lovers.  Well, I was certainly one of those.

Today one of my dearest friends in the world passed away.

evelyn

Evelyn and I made friends with each other about a decade ago.  Since our first conversation we kept in touch almost everyday.  I will miss her beyond words.

This is a video I did in honor of Evelyn years ago.  She was forever touched that I made it for her.

More missing and loving my Evelyn later…Cat, Daisy Lynn (Chaps and Emma ATB) with Boswell following along side her…

Lucky pennies from Grandpa for Daisy Lynn…

April 2nd, 2013 - 6:06 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and lucky penny lovers…Grandpa always made sure every hound we ever had, had a lucky penny on their collars.  He would drill a tiny hole at the top of the penny and attach it to the collar with a ring.  Grandpa made sure I had a reserve of lucky pennies which I had almost forgot about.  It hit me today that I had to find his lucky pennies and get them on Daisy Lynn’s new collars.  Yes, I said collars…

Here is her new lavender collar that she showed off a few blog postings back…

Daisyluckypenny3

Well, I loved this collar so much that I had to buy the green one with matching harness and leash.  I also loved the tags so I had to get both for Daisy Lynn.

Daisyluckypenny2

Then we have the collar that I designed and had made for Chaps and Emma.  I have a reserve of these collars and Daisy Lynn will wear this when she get a little bigger. If you look close, you will see tiny little daisies stamped into the leather.  So fitting!   I will also get her a leather harness to match.

Daisyluckypenny4

I guess you can tell we are ready for spring!

Daisyluckypenny

But for now we will just lay and wait…

Daisyluckypenny5

Also, so we do not just relay on lucky pennies 😉 I ordered a supply of Home Again tags for all of her collars.  We ordered the plain plastic 8 dollar ones that look like a yellow house.

I adore and cherish the pennies and Grandpa’s forethought for making sure I had enough for the future.

More loving luck later…Cat, Daisy Lynn (Chaps and Emma ATB) knowing that their collars and pennies are touched everyday.

Bassethoundtown has a big announcement!

April 1st, 2013 - 12:12 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and big announcement lovers!!!  Well, with much care, thought and determination I have decided to devote all of my time, effort and energy to making Daisy Lynn a champion show basset hound!  Can you believe it?

Howl hard can it be?

BIS-1

She already has the beauty.  All we need is practice stacking!

BIS-2

She already looks like a natural to me.  I want to get her into that ring in the worst way and show her off to the world.

Yes to the world!  We will also travel internationally to the biggest shows in Europe and beyond!  I think the world dog show is in Hungry this year!  That will be fun!

See my technique?  I know howl to pull her fancy ear past her nose to show the judge she meets the standard of basset hound ears!  I saw that somewhere…maybe at a dog show I was at several years ago.

BIS-4

Look howl Daisy Lynn is a natural!  This is her first time stacking!

BIS-3

And her last!

af

More not stacking later….Love, Cat, Daisy Lynn (Chaps and Emma ATB) heheheing…..
