I normally delete these e-mails because frankly, I just can’t bare to look at all of them and there are sooooo many. I do have a problem with some people that list on Petfinder. They know that in some cases, folks are looking for a particular breed so they add a list of what they think the mixture is and it inevitably includes basset hound because they are sweet, kind family dogs. More than half of the newly added basset hounds look like a very cute mutt.

Interestingly, I love this particular mix and have seen and fell in love with a few in my decades of hound rescue.
I am not seeing much basset in this one but dangit…Isn’t Wolfgang the cutest?
I bet he does not last long at his current foster home.

PS – I also use this alert system to help folks that are looking to adopt a basset hound. I always tell them to sign up for the basset hound alert and keep checking within the distance they are willing to drive. I also always send the person who has requested my help the current issue of

He is so sweet and cute. Wolfgang reminds me of Mayor Daisy with that dark coloring over his eye.
He may have some hound in him. Not sure it’s basset but he is a cutie for sure. I would be like you with those notices. Currently, since I’m not looking to adopt, I’m staying away from all basset notices looking for homes. It hurts too much that I can’t save them all. When I’m ready, I know I won’t have a hard time finding a hound in need of a home. For now though, 3 is a crowd. Just ask Jethro and Harriet.
Well this was so cool to see. I was actually searching to see if Wolfgang’s brothers (Wyatt and Wolfus) were still up for adoption. I am Wolfgang’s forever momma. I adopted him on May 30th, I saw that face and just had to have him. He is absolutely amazing and extremely smart. I am completely in love. I just wanted to let everyone know that he is doing well and has gotten so big. He is the size and has the build of a dalmation, but the soft mushy skin of a hound. I will send or post updated pics to whom ever wants to see him. Have a wonderful day.
