Dog Bless Daisy Lynn…
Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Daisy Lynn Lovers…
This has been the worst 4th of July to date for noise in bassethoundtown. Just horrible. Our street is engulfed in smoke. I am so glad Chaps did not have to endure this. Unfortunately, Romeo is not a fan but not near as bad as our darling departed Chaps. Actually, Rescue Remedy works on him.
Daisy Lynn knew he was uneasy.
Bless her heart and thank dog she is not frightened.
She laid in her bed and watched the Macy’s show with me.
Romeo and Enzo cuddled off camera.
I hate the noise this day means. HATE HATE HATE
More loving when this day is over later…Cat, Daisy Lynn (Chaps and Emma ATB reporting that fire crackers are not allowed!)
Ollie was chilling to some music playing. This really helps.
I’m with you Cat. I HATE it too. Thank goodness our young Mayor can tolerate it! How wonderful for you!!!
Have a great weekend!!!
Well, I had 2 dogs that were always afraid of fireworks and thunder and lightening. Harriet and Rugs. Now that Rugs is gone, I thought I could breathe a little easier with just Harriet to deal with. Well…last night Ozzie was a nervous wreck. I have NEVER seen him like this. He was shaking like a vibrator and panting. I gave him a gasX for fear that he may bloat because he was so very upset. So, I ended up laying on the floor with him until 11:00 and the fireworks tamed down. I’ve never seen it so bad and so close to my house. I don’t understand why people have to go out and spend all that money to just blow it all up in smoke. Go to a fireworks show somewhere for Pete’s Sake! Ok, I’m off my soap box.
I’m soooooo glad for you that Daisy Lynn is so laid back and doesn’t let anything bother her. What a gift.
I know Cindy – it was the same at my house. I have never had fireworks this close to my house in such a big production. I was even scared to go outside for fear of being hit. It was way too much and if I was the Queen I would put an end to it. Let the professionals handle it! Anyway, I am glad it is over and done with.
Poor Ozzie – I know exactly what you mean. That was a good idea to give him a GasX.
Yes, I think my time has come to have a hound that is not noise phobic. For the past 20 years I have always had a noise phobic hound. Wouldn’t trade them for anything in this world but boy was it tuff going.
I’m with you. The “neighborhood” fireworks have been much worse this year. Still going last night until 11:45pm. Mabel did ok, but very nervous. Sophie doesn’t mind (fortunately), and Lulu (cat) slept through. Unfortunately, just because the “4th” is over doesn’t mean the people are done with their noise and smoke-makers. 🙁
I am so with all of you about hating July 4th noise. So far, Tater Tot shows no fear, but Cookie is a mess. Our first basset, Snicker Doodles, was inconsolable. Sometimes the only relief Cookie gets is to be crated with a blanket over her crate.
Slinky wasn’t that bothered this year by the fireworks, she just went to her quiet corner and chewed on a juicy bone.
