September the first…one of my favorite days of the year!!!
Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and September first lovers…I adore September first because that means August is OVER!!! I guess you can tell I am not a fan of sticky humidity.
And neither is Daisy Lynn….
We both look forward to fall and the end of the dog days of summer…
“The brightest star in Canis Major also is the brightest in the entire night sky — brilliant Sirius, which is just 8.6 light-years away. That’s only twice as far as our closest stellar neighbor. Because it is the brightest star of the Great Dog, Sirius is known as the Dog Star. Its first appearance in the dawn sky in August heralds the “dog days” of summer.”
More looking forward to the hound day of fall later….Love, Cat, Daisy Lynn (Chaps and Emma ATB shining bright in Canis Major)
An interesting and fun fact!
I don’t like August either. Except for it means summer is almost over. I’ve been hearing we’ll have a cold winter. We sure need one down here in the south.
Dog Star huh? Didn’t know that. We can always depend on Basset Hound Town to educate us.
I’m with you, Cat! I am looking forward to the cool weather, even the cold weather. We have a roaring fire in the fireplace every night as soon as the first chill descends and the Boys love it:) Not a fan of the hot weather at all…

I know why you really like September! It means that the dreaded pool across the street from you is closed until Memorial Day! I heard a cold winter is coming too – oh well it was not a really hot summer – just a wet one!!
Judy – you are so right. Some call it a pool, but I call it a dive bar. The drunks will have to migrate to their next seasonal “watering hole” soon! Come on Fall!
