Daisy Lynn has a new friend! Sam…

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and new friend lovers…

OK, I was waiting to post this to see if it was just a fluke.

I have a bell attached to the sliding glass door so Daisy Lynn can ring it when she wants to go out front to the ladies room.  She uses it for this purpose about 22.3% of the time.  The rest of the time she uses it to make me stop what I am doing and rush to the door in time to see her dash off in an effort to get me to play.  Of course it works.  So, over the weekend she kept ringing the bell and I kept coming into the room.  This time it was different.  There was always the same squirrel sitting there staring at her.

This happened Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday and finally today I got his picture.

We named him Sam.

He is sitting on the fence but he jumps from that to the tree and plays peek-a-boo with her.  It is so cute!

More loving making new woodland creature friends later…Cat, Daisy Lynn (Chaps and Emma ATB playing peek-a-boo with rainbows….)

PS – if Sam sticks around he might be in store for some winter nuts and seeds.

This is so cute! We have a squirrel that teases Ollie. Ollie will be laying there looking out the storm door window & the squirrel will come right up on the porch & Ollie hits the window & barks. The squirrel is brave knowing Ollie can’t get to him. Watch Sam doesn’t come in to play.

I have Sam’s twin brother over here stealing all my pecans. Of course, the bassets aren’t worried about it.

How cute that she has a friend!

Scary….early this morning, around 4:45 I woke up to Daisy Lynn low growling over and over again. I got up and looked out the windows and door and I saw nothing but she just kept going back and forth to where she could see out and continued her low growl. The good news is, she seems to be a really good guard doggie! I kept telling her what a good girl she was.

That is great Cat! Maybe she heard something or as good as her nose is, she may have smelled something. Hopefully it was something harmless like a lizard. She is protcting her Mommy. You can never be too cautious in this day and age.

    GOOD GIRL DAILY LYNN!

Emma and you have so many friends in your beautiful yard. Let’s see there’s Verna and his babies, and now Sam. Maybe Sam will bring by a friend or two.

Did you ever figure it out what she was growling at?? This summer Ollie has growled really late at night at the front door on occasion. One night when my husband was coming in the garage he noticed we had a cat sitting by the front door. Doesn’t belong to anyone here. We also have 2 very large owls that have spooked my dog.

No, I have not noticed anything odd today outside but we do have a new cat in the neighborhood and also a few raccoons. Howl ever, what we do have in Northern KY is a epidemic of heroin addicts. There have been break in all over our region. So, with her growling I was very happy. I kept saying, “good girl, good girl” and looking out all of the front windows with her. I am very proud of her. It’s nice to know she is on alert.

When Bumper goes nuts at night it is because deer are in our yard!
