Dog Bless Daisy Lynn…

July 4th, 2013 - 10:10 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Daisy Lynn Lovers…

This has been the worst 4th of July to date for noise in bassethoundtown.  Just horrible.  Our street is engulfed in smoke.  I am so glad Chaps did not have to endure this.  Unfortunately, Romeo is not a fan but not near as bad as our darling departed Chaps. Actually, Rescue Remedy works on him.

Daisy Lynn knew he was uneasy.

Daisy4th2

Bless her heart and thank dog she is not frightened.

She laid in her bed and watched the Macy’s show with me.

Daisy4th

Romeo and Enzo cuddled off camera.

I hate the noise this day means.  HATE HATE HATE

More loving when this day is over later…Cat, Daisy Lynn (Chaps and Emma ATB reporting that fire crackers are not allowed!)

Stranger from Kedington helps Haverhill woman find her wounded cat…

Daisythewonderhound

Dotty the cat of Sheena Hester was run over and ran away. Sheena appealed on Facebook for help and Amanda O’Brien from Kedington said she would get her basset hound Daisy to help. Daisy, who is untrained, sniffed a blanket and then ran off into the field and found Dotty in 10 mins. Dotty went to the vets and is now okay.  Amanda O’Brien with Daisey the Basset hound and Sheena Hester.

A woman who feared her cat had limped off to die after being run over was delighted after a stranger answered her appeal for help and brought round her untrained dog to find the wounded animal alive.

Sheena Hester, 48, from Falklands Road, Haverhill, appealed for help on Facebook after her nine month old cat Dotty was run over on Ann Suckling Road and limped off into the nearby fields.

He appeal was answered by Amanda O’Brien, 33, from Haverhill Road, Kedington, whose untrained basset hound Daisy had a sniff of Dotty’s blanket and rushed off to find her.

Dotty was hit by the car at around 2pm on Saturday (June 29), which Sheena’s 15 year old daughter Daisy saw.

Though both she and the driver looked for the cat, she had scarpered off into the fields.

Dotty

“My daughter saw her get run over and go head over heels and spin over a couple of times before running off into the fields, as that’s what they tend to do – run off to die and literally lick their wounds,” said Sheena.

“We spent all afternoon looking for her so I put on Facebook to see if anyone had any ideas and Amanda said she’d bring her basset hound over to have a sniff.

“They got here at about 9pm and Daisy sniffed the blanket and then rushed off and found Dotty curled up in the cornfield.”

“Dotty was scared of the dog and had taken a swipe at her and by 9.15 she’d rushed home and was upstairs.”

“It was amazing – it was a Saturday night, Amanda doesn’t know me from Adam and lives in Kedington but she came over her to help a stranger.”

Sheena and husband Daryl, 47, got Dotty from Jaybeth Animal Sanctuary in Barnardiston.

They took her to the vets after she was found and were relieved to see that despite having a bleeding nose she had no broken bones or internal injuries and is now on the road to recovery.

Amanda was home with boyfriend Adrian Halls when she saw about Dotty being hit and offered to take two year old Daisy around to help search.

“When I turned up Sheena was in tears, so I told her to get something that had Dotty’s smell,” she said.

“I let Daisy have a sniff and said ‘Go find’, and she usually stays with me but she ran off over the field and I couldn’t keep up.”

“I honestly thought Daisy would find her dead, but then I saw Dotty take a swipe and shoot off and by the time we got back she was already at the house.”

“I was really impressed – Daisy’s never had training like that and when I gave her the blanket she went really weird like she knew what she had to do.”

END OF ARTICLE…

Isn’t this a great story?  What a great and caring hound.

More finds of the day later…Love, Cat Daisy Lynn (Chaps and Emma ATB where nobody is ever lost or hurt)

In Memory of Emma – gone over the bridge one year ago today:(

June 29th, 2013 - 7:07 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Emma Lovers…OMGawd we were all one of those!  I cannot believe that it has been one year since Emma told me it was her time to go.  It seems like yesterday.  This year has passed by so fast.

I miss my girl like crazy.

darlingemma

Emma was one of the best teachers I have ever had, maybe the best teacher.

Emmaouttake2012

I view all of my hound children as teachers.

Wise and profound are their ways of the world.

WiseEmma

The lessons are so touching.  Their knowledge is right there for us to grab.  I pay such close attention to most every detail because within a single moment answers will unfold.

Emma smiles for ice cream

I cherished each and every moment I had with darling Emma, my child.  Her spirit and determination never wavered.  She never complained about a single thing.  She ruled our home with such joy and love.

emmaheart

Emma and I still have a mission, and that is to bring awareness to the dreadful disease that she accepted better than her family at times.

Hereditary glaucoma took her eyes but not her power of truth and her knowledge of love.

Emma kiss

I promised her before Hospice came, a year ago today, that I would fight on and never give up exposing those who carelessly and recklessly breed out of greed.

lastpic

My research and investigations are much too detailed to relate now, plus now is not the time.  Now is the time to know in my heart that she is with her best friend and protector, The Mayor – Chaps Wayne Rudert.

togetherforever

Together, forever…

I miss and love you, my child, my daughter, my teacher…

Your lessons are still being taught and I am still learning from you…

Our walks were a wonderful class room

More learning and loving later…Cat, Daisy Lynn (Chaps and Emma ATB with Grandpa keeping me wise)
