Mayor Daisy Lynn was “trying to keep up with the big dogs!”

October 21st, 2013 - 8:08 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Daisy Lynn Lovers…Poor thing…must have scraped her paw pad at the walking club event yesterday.  She has been licking and licking it since last night.

Grandma said, “She was probably trying to keep up with the big dogs!”  Ahhhhh…that made me sigh.

As you can see we put a pink baby sock on her after we rubbed some neosporin on the scrape.

DaisyLynnPaw1

She really was trying to lead the way and was just having the time of her life.  Pulling and barking more than any other hound in attendance.

DaisyLynnPaw2

Well, we will keep her off her paws for a few days and heal that ole scrape up.

More loving and protecting pink puppy paw pads later…Cat, Daisy Lynn, (Chaps and Emma ATB slinging healing drool)

October 20th, 2013 - 8:08 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Walking Club (and wanting to hear about the day) lovers!

It was a truly spectacular day and the about 30 or more hounds enjoyed every second of it! So did all of the hound lovers!

All the humans received an official bassethoundtown fanny club membership badge!

Daisy Lynn and I made them special for everyone!

Marsie set up another group shot with me trying to hold all the hounds!  I love each and every one of them!

Daisy Lynn has a new friend! Sam…

October 15th, 2013 - 6:06 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and new friend lovers…

OK, I was waiting to post this to see if it was just a fluke.

I have a bell attached to the sliding glass door so Daisy Lynn can ring it when she wants to go out front to the ladies room.  She uses it for this purpose about 22.3% of the time.  The rest of the time she uses it to make me stop what I am doing and rush to the door in time to see her dash off in an effort to get me to play.  Of course it works.  So, over the weekend she kept ringing the bell and I kept coming into the room.  This time it was different.  There was always the same squirrel sitting there staring at her.

SamDaisyLynn2

This happened Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday and finally today I got his picture.

We named him Sam.

SamDaisyLynn

He is sitting on the fence but he jumps from that to the tree and plays peek-a-boo with her.  It is so cute!

More loving making new woodland creature friends later…Cat, Daisy Lynn (Chaps and Emma ATB playing peek-a-boo with rainbows….)

PS – if Sam sticks around he might be in store for some winter nuts and seeds.

Blue Ribbon Sequin Spotlight Snood!

October 13th, 2013 - 9:09 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Blue Ribbon Sequin Spotlight Snood Lovers…

Today I was adding another item to my boutique inventory.  It is a gorgeous, beyond stunning snood that I bought for Emma back in 2004.  When I received the masterpiece it was unfortunately too small for her.  I put it in a bag and it has been sitting in my inventory closet since then, (along with another beauty I will post later).

It fits Daisy Lynn perfectly and she modeled it like a pro.

I had to share with the residents…

BRSSS5

It it very unique in that it is so thin you can see Grandma’s hand through it.

BRSSS3

Isn’t it pretty?  I think so.

We had so much fun today taking pictures and playing with Daisy Lynn….

More Blue Ribbon Dayz later…Love, Cat, Daisy Lynn (Chaps and Emma ATB watching some hounds wearing rainbow snoods;)

Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park and Museum – Hamilton, OH

October 12th, 2013 - 8:08 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Dog Friendly Road Trips with Bassethoundtown Lovers…

Today Grandma, Daisy Lynn and I took off to explore one of the great wonders in our region, Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park.  We give this park 4 paws up!

The namesake pyramid

It’s the home that gives the park its name, the entire structure is built into the hilltop and capped by a large glass pyramid that floods his sunken living room with soft, natural light. Harry Wilks, attorney and philanthropist designed the place – sketching preliminary ideas on a legal pad while walking his dog around a nearby lake.

“I saw some deer on the top of the hill and thought, ‘Why can’t I go through that hill?’ I couldn’t get the idea out of my mind,” he said.

Pyramid Hill is one of few sculpture parks in the United States. Upon opening in 1996, it was touted as the “most beautiful natural setting of any art park in the country” by Atlantic Monthly. This 335-acre  park features more than 60 monumental contemporary sculptures. The park’s Ancient Sculpture Museum displays antiquities from the Greek, Roman, Etruscan and Egyptian civilizations.

First off we found an artistic place for our picnic.  Just look at that tree, we named it the Daisy Tree!

PHSP1

We enjoyed a lunch of chicken, chips, and cold frozen margaritas.

PHSP4

Then it was off to explore art and nature!  Daisy Lynn was curious about this larger than life frame for a tree!

PHSP3

The next stop…A steel tower to attach a leash too;)

PHSC5

We found this stone sculpture bench.

Daisy Lynn was posing like a super model!

PHSP6

We spotted this orange funny looking thing between the trees with orange leaves.

PHSC7

Keep in mind, there are lots and lots of walking paths.  If you are not able to walk or too tired you can rent an “art cart”!  There are golf cart paths that link all of the 60 sculptures.  You can even take your dog in the cart if you wish.

This place not only allows dogs, they encourage them.

Given Daisy Lynn’s nervousness over motor vehicles we decided to hoof it this time.

We took a longer walk over to the Pyramid House.  The House is private property but you can certainly see it from the paths.

But first Daisy Lynn wanted to look at the water spout.

PHSP10

This was one of my personal favorites…

PHSP8

You can kind of see the Pyramid House in the way background from this shot.

PHSP9

Here is my artsy shot of this sculpture with the pyramid of the house through it!  If you knock on it there are musical sounds that echo.  So cool!

PHSP11

Harry had a sculpture of himself designed and he sits right outside of his home.

Harry Wilks

Harry is now 88 years old and is famous for saying….

“Follow your passion—don’t do the easy thing. Passion gives you energy and keeps you going.”

No truer words have ever been spoken.  Today Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park was our passion.  Thanks Harry!

More loving dog friendly road trips with bassethoundtown later…Cat, Daisy Lynn, (Chaps and Emma ATB riding in golf carts over the rainbows.)

Pretty, pretty pictures…

October 11th, 2013 - 8:08 pm KY Time

Howllo fellow Basset Hound and Pretty, pretty pictures lovers…

Today Grandma and I took our Darling Daisy Lynn out for a drive and a walk.  It was another picture perfect day.  The only problem is that Daisy Lynn does not like to ride in the car.  She whines and cries and just seems generally confused.  Dog knows we have had her in the car many, many times.

She loves it when we get to our destination.

DaisyLynnWM1

We all do, and have so much fun!

DLWM2

She is 100% better on the ride home, probably because she is tired.

I love this picture that Grandma set up for us.

This entire car thing with Daisy Lynn is perplexing.  We hope she grows out of it.

Howl do your hounds do in the car?

More loving pebbles and October later…Cat, Daisy Lynn (Chaps and Emma ATB loving riding on clouds…)

Happy Birthday Grandma!

October 10th, 2013 - 6:06 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Birthday Lovers.  Today is Grandmas birthday and we really had fun!  First off, I took Grandma to a winery that is about an hour from bassethoundtown.  We had a really nice lunch and a mini wine tasting.

BDECW1

This winery is called Elk Creek and is also a skeet shooting club.  As we were sitting outside you could hear all the shots being fired and that was a bit freaky.

BDECW2

I tell you what, the sky really was this blue.  WOW!

Sky Blue Selfie!

BDECW3

Now for better shot of the shirt.

BDECW4

KY Wine, KY girl but no KY hound….

We left our Darling Daisy Lynn at home.

Someone was not pleased.

BDECW5

I bought lunch and Daisy Lynn bought her Grandma a bottle of wine to bring home.

I must say, KY wine is pretty darn good!

More loving lots and lots more birthdays later…Cat, Daisy Lynn, (Chaps and Emma ATB blowing out rainbow candles…)
