Please join me in welcoming Sam to bassethoundtown!

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and soon to be Sam lovers…

Bassethoundtown residents Marsie her hubby and Nosey have given shelter and love to a homeless boy hound who they named Sam!  Sam was rescued by an all breed rescue in the Cincinnati area called Louie’s Legacy.  It is so wonderful to have Louie’s Legacy near bassethoundtown.  They adore bassets and take many, if not all of the homeless bassets in this area.  I have blogged about them before.  Really, I can’t say enough good stuff about them.  They rescued Sam last week.

An eight year old gentle hound! Poor guy was just at his wits end.

But enter Marsie, her hubby and Nosey!  YES!

Don’t you  just love her cupcake hat?

Can you imagine Sam’s good luck?  Falling into the loving arms of this family?

Himz so skinny and can’t get his neuter until Marsie hides his ribs…

I think that will happen soon enough…

Right now Sam is a foster boy but who knows what will happen.  He looks at home to me!

Welcome to bassethoundtown darling Sam.  You have a beautiful sister and family.  You fell into the lap of love!

More loving new residents later…Cat, Daisy Lynn (Chaps and Emma ATB watching over the homeless…)

I’m wondering about that “foster” part too. Either way, Sam is in good hands/paws and he’ll be safe and loved (and well fed).

What a lucky dog Sam is! We’re so excited for him and his future. I’m sure Nosey will enjoy some hound company. But, what if she falls in love?

Sam is adorable and seems to get along well with Nosey. I am so glad that Marsie and Tom found room in their hearts and home to welcome a great boy! Good luck on Friday Sam.

Awww! Thank you so much for this sweet post! We just found it this very minute! As you can imagine, this has been a non-stop week… Slowly, but surely, Sammy is earning his “freedom” in the house by proving that he is housebroken and will not do anything “bad.” We are also making sure that he and Nosey bond, but not leaving them alone together without supervision. This was a big day for Sammy because Professor Tom got up first with them and let me sleep late… Then, he woke me up by letting the hounds loose on me and they both jumped up on the bed and kissed me and cuddled for a while.

Sammy is a very good boy with a sweet disposition. Nosey is definitely the Queen Bee, but, she has tolerated the little interloper better than I could have imagined and I always believed that she would like to have a full-time playmate. They play together with such energy and joy! They have not gotten into any arguments except once when Nosey finished her dinner (all the way across the kitchen)first and decided that she wanted to help Sammy finish his meal. He let her for a moment, then thought better of it. He lifted his head, looked at her and said, “WOOF!” She immediately stepped back. No growls, no fight… He just told her firmly that it was his dinner and he didn’t want to share.

I made the Satin Balls and they are a big hit with Sammy. He has had five today.

My Dad is taking us to the vet tomorrow morning since Tom has a big meeting out of town. I’m sure that Nosey will enjoy taking a little break. I can’t remember if Nipper had to wear a cone after his neuter surgery. Will Sammy need one?

Love to all! xoxo Marsie, Tom, Nosey & Sam the Dog

Marsie – that is a good question about the cone. We all know that boys like to lick that area…I sure hope he does not need one. I hate those awful things but we don’t want him to pull any stitches out for goodness sakes…
