April 21st, 2015 - 8:08 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Walking Club Lovers…It’s time to dust off those short legs and get them moving to the Spring Bassethoundtown Walking Club event!  Come one come all low to the ground hounds!!!

BHTWCSPRING15

Yesterday Judy (Mom to Bumper and Abby) and I went off on our traditional deliver the fliers day.  We hit the local hound homes in hopes of catching some in their natural habitat.  We were lucky enough to catch these 2!

BHTWC:1

These 2 girls were out for their morning walk heading home to their sister who is 15 years old!

Judy – do you remember their names?

OK – just about a month away.

It is always so much fun for the hounds to gather into a huge pack.  They just love it.

But for now – Mayor Daisy Lynn in her natural habitat! 8:00am this morning – waiting for the school kids to walk by.

It’s a rainy Sunday in bassethoundtown!

April 19th, 2015 - 12:12 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and rainy Sunday lovers…We took advantage of the pick day of the week which was yesterday and had a glorious picnic in Devou Park, Covington KY.

Here we have Grandma with our young Mayor.  We decided that this was not the best area of the park to picnic.  See those guys down below on the golf course?  Well, they sliced a ball right over our heads!!!  Wow!  That was close…

Someone likes her new lawn!

April 17th, 2015 - 1:01 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and new lawn lovers…At the end of last fall my yard guy suggested that he sod my little lawn and I agreed. My lawn was mostly all clover, which don’t get me wrong I love clover, but I also love a lush green grass especially for hound rolling…

I was anxious to see if it survived the winter because it cost about 700 dollars!  That is a big investment for Bassethoundtown for sure!  DLSod

Mayor Daisy Lynn thinks it was well worth it!

More loving our little lawn later…Cat, Daisy Lynn, (Chaps and Emma ATB laying on rainbow sod…)

It was spring parade in Ault Park Cincinnati, OH

April 12th, 2015 - 7:07 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and spring parade lovers…OMD!!!  It was so much fun today over at Ault Park Cincinnati, OH.  I have blogged about Ault Park before but it is so huge and glorious that you just need multiple blogs to even begin to showcase its beauty.  Just 20 minutes from bassethoundtown main headquarters you can have a picnic and watch a parade of people and pets as you bask in the glory of some of the nations finest gardens.

But first a gourmet picnic that I prepared for myself and Grandma…

Menu:

Rotisserie chicken salad sandwiches made with Jarlsberg red onion spread, caramelized yellow onions, hot pepper sauce, and almonds.

Cold rice and potato salad with peas, hot sauce and mayo.

Desert was to die for …I took a piece of chocolate cake with chocolate frosting and a piece of corn bread with a light layer of butter and forked into a soft consistency.  I then rolled it into balls and covered with almonds…

BEHOLD…

AP1

I failed to get pictures of the other delectable delights but who cares??? LOL

We then went on our own parade around the park.  Here is Daisy Lynn and I in front of a delicate and somewhat rare yellow Magnolia…

AP2

This park is so cool.  They have these promenades that wrap around large flat grass areas.  You can’t really see what I am talking about but if you look to the right that is the large grass area where people lay on blankets and soak up the spring…

AP3

Then Grandma spotted this little flowering bush and had to pose Daisy Lynn…so pretty!

AP4

We walked for an hour or more and probably saw about a 100 dogs and I am not kidding.  In our opinion, Daisy Lynn was the prettiest! (Surprise, surprise;)

AP5

Then it was time to head back to bassethoundtown…Dreaming of our next promenade and of course chocolate cornbread almond balls!  LOL

More dreaming later…Cat, Daisy Lynn, (Chaps and Emma ATB having their own rainbow picnic!)

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Spring Saturday Sunshine Lovers…It certainly was a stunning day.  Oh, park howl we missed ya!  But we are back!

1stspringwalk

We did not walk much because Daisy Lynn had to smell every tender shoot of grass.  It is great to get our walking legs back!

Sunday is not be outdone!  Sunday here we come!

More loving life later…Cat, Daisy Lynn (Chaps and Emma ATB laying in the tender shoots of spring grass;)

Is there anything cuter than a face, rump roast shot?

April 8th, 2015 - 8:08 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and cute shot lovers…Daisy Lynn does this to me all day long and I just miss the shot.  She leads the way and then turns around to see if I am following.  It melts my heart.  So cute…

frontback

Of course Romeo is leading the real way. He is so funny.  He adores the dog door and is a real pro.

It’s funny howl something so simple can bring so much joy…

More loving the whole package later…Cat, Daisy Lynn, (Chaps and Emma ATB with their own rainbow packages!)

Is this the best dressed basset in Greater Manchester England?

April 7th, 2015 - 10:10 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow basset and hounds in coats lovers…This came across the news wire this morning and I must admit – I am a sucker for a basset in a coat!  OMDog the cuteness factor is off the charts!

henry2

Is that jacket Hel-mutt Lang? Or maybe Poochi?

Basset hound Henry has become a fashion icon in his native Salford England after rocking tailor-made and upcycled outfits on his daily walks.

The dapper dog has a range of outfits to choose from – including upcycled pale denim complete with fake jewels and a tailored tartan coat.

His owner Allison Taylor, 46, bought Henry his first coat after noticing he loved snoozing in front of the fire and was loathe to go out in the cold.

Since then, things have snowballed – thanks to donations at the Salford Charities Together shop in Eccles where Allison volunteers.

Henry

She saves wool and old jeans donated to the shop, which are then ‘upcycled’ into stylish dog outfits by one of her regular customers.

And Henry, five, is proud to parade them on walks from his home off Eccles Old Road.

Allison, a mum-of-three and grandma-of-six, says people often stop her to ask about Henry’s outfit – and his breed, which is apparently notoriously stubborn and difficult to train.

She said: “I’d always thought it was a bit daft to dress animals up but we noticed Henry was always in front of the fire or radiator – he loves heat.

“We thought he must be freezing when we had to drag him out for walks in the snow.

“So we got him one coat and I suppose then I fell victim to my own vanity – now I’m always on the lookout for them.

“The upcycled denim one was made by a customer at the shop from a pair of old jeans.

“I think Henry prefers the tartan one because it’s more fitted.

“If you have an unusual looking dog you will always draw attention – Henry’s a talking point and we get approached by people to talk about his breed.

“Basset hounds are a big dog with small legs, they are very strong and stubborn, but we have been lucky with Henry, some can be very difficult to train.

“We’re looking for a companion for Henry at the moment and would like to get another basset hound.

“Obviously we’d have to dress them up too – we couldn’t leave them out.”
