Abigail (Abby) Alessandro 4/29/02 – 11/16/15…
Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Missing Abby Lovers…
She was a precious and sweet soul all wrapped up in a little basset body. She was a petite sweet. Such a joyful doll…
Her Mommy Judy wrote her obituary….
“Today we lost our sweet little girl – Abigail Alessandro. Abby was 13 1/2 years old and is survived by her mom Judy, dad Rick and her baby sister Annie.
She was preceded in death 6 months ago by her brother Bumper Alessandro.
Abby fought her bladder cancer with dignity for as long as she could. She just wore out after 6 months of chemo. Abby loved her family and “her kids”- our grandkids. She was the sweetest little girl ever. There was never a person that Abby did not like.
I would like to thank her vets as they helped Abby fight this disease and help her to the bridge where she will meet Bumper again and one of our grandkids Paige who loved her so much.
Thank you also to Heidi Wolin who helped me understand her chemo and to Cat Rudert for all her love and support in helping her to the bridge. I am forever grateful.
Abby will return home next week.”
I met Abby and Bumper in 2009. Their Mommy Judy contacted me and we became fast friends. I loved visiting Abby and Bumper every chance I got.
Abby used to love for me to watch her explore her back yard. It was one of her favorite places…She was chasing her squirrel friends to the very end.
Dog Speed darling Abby…you will be missed by all of those you touched especially me. Aunt Cat…
More loving and missing Abby later…Cat, Daisy Lynn (Chaps and Emma ATB with Abby right now:)
She was beautiful and very much loved.
So sorry about Abby, especially so soon after the loss of Bumper. Prayers are with you.
Once again tears are running down my face as they have been for the past 36 hours. Thank you so much Cat for making such a beautiful memorial for such a beautiful little girl, Bumper and Abby loved when you came to visit and Abby was spoiled so very much when you kept her and Annie for me in September. Abby was doing so well with her chemo that we had hoped to have her with us much longer. I asked Abby to find Bumper and you asked her to find Chaps and Emma so I think they are all having a party tonight.
Thank you so much Cat for coming over to visit us yesterday and to sit on the floor and say good bye to our little girl. I really appreciated the extra support and the tears we both shared. This has been so hard.
Bumper and Abby can never be replaced but I really am happy we had Baby Annie to come home to last night. I will miss my co pilot as Abby always rode shot gun in the car with me. She was attached to me like Velcro during the day. At night she was Rick’s TV buddy always sitting on his lap. She was a petite girl so she could pull this off. Today I came home and for the first time in 13 1/2 years there was no one waiting and wagging their tail to greet me. That was heart breaking.
All I can say now is that I love my Abby girl and miss her so much.
So sad to learn about Abby. You gave her the very best love and care, especially during her cancer battle. Peace be with both Judy and Rick. Tater and Cookie send slobbery kisses.
So sorry to hear that a long time basset hound town resident has left for the bridge. Abby sounds like the sweetest and most perfect hound. And she was one lucky hound to have such a loving family. So glad you have Annie. Hug her tight, she will help you heal. They are so hard to lose. We have paws pressed together and thinking of you during this time of healing.
Judy- I am so sorry to hear about Abby’s passing. I will keep you and your family in my prayers. Sandy
