Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and living life better lovers…I totally, utterly, most definitely, positively, agree with this statement!

Everyone who knows anything about dogs know they were bred for a purpose.  Thank goodness that part of the purpose of a basset hound was to make life better!

I certainly hope that all of the residents enjoy their weekend and their purpose driven hounds!  Be safe and have fun!

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and needing a swim lovers…For the most part people say that bassets are not good swimmers but I think that some are.  Fero sure seems to enjoy his swims in this cool creek.

Himz a good looking boy and I love his shiny coat when he gets out of the water!

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Dexter Wayne Lovers…Dexter Wayne is a local resident and attends the walking club events from time to time.  Himz is such a handsome boy!

Look at the picture his Mommy captures this summer!  I think they were camping…

So cute and Dexter Wayne looks like, “What just happened Mommy?”  I told her she should blow it up to a  poster!

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and remembering the past fondly lovers…Howl could we not remember our very own Emma Wanda Rudert AKA shimlette today?  In #bassethoundtown it is every day!

This was a few days after I brought her home from TX.  She had no idea what was going on – LOL.

What a darling girl and teacher.  There will never be a patty like herz!

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and the Late Colby Chaps Mead, lovers…

One of the greats in our basset hound community has crossed over the rainbow bridge.  He was my Grandhound and I adored him.

I was fortunate to be a part of the majority of his life when I e-mailed his Mom back in 2007.  I had just adopted his Daddy, the late Mayor Chaps Wayne Rudert of bassethoundtown and found out that he had fathered one litter.  In that litter was the one and only Colby Chaps Mead.  His Mommy, Audra and I became instant friends and never went a few days without communicating.  We both are devoted basset hound rescue advocates and work together to promote responsible ownership.  Colby Chaps is proceeded in death by his little rescue sister Abby.  He was surrounded by his loved ones and HOSPICE at the time of his passing.  Colby Chaps was almost 13 years old and was experiencing some complications of old age.  He dedicated his life to his family and brought them an abundance of joy and love with his kind and gentle nature.  Colby Chaps Mead made this world a better place.  Thank you my Grandhound I will be eternally grateful.

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Playtime lovers!  A few days ago Daisy Lynn had a play date with some fellow residents, Nosey and Sam the Dog Hall Newbold!

As we were waiting outside my friend – Edwardo the salamander came out to visit!

He just looks like an Edwardo to me.  This is the first year that I have seen him and his family.  I hope they are eating the stink bugs that were showing up and now seem to be gone.  That would be too good to be true!

Daisy Lynn greeted her fellow residents with glee!

“Come on, let’s play!”

But that was short lived because Daisy Lynn told them “I have special treats inside!  hehehe”

“Off we go then…”

And a good time was had by all.

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and River Walk Lovers…We have the coolest River Walk about 10 minutes from bassethoundtown headquarters.  It is so quaint and shady.  Today the Reds had a double header!  It was fun because you could hear everyone screaming and cheering!

This walk is nice in the heat of the summer because for the most part it is covered in shade.  We always make sure to test the pavement with the back of our hands to see if it is too hot for paw pads.  We have learned that paver stones seems to get hotter than pavement.

Grandma took this picture as well.  WOW!  This is the definition of Cincinnati, the Queen City!  Just after this pic someone got a home run and the crowd went wild!
