Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and The Lily Book Tour Lovers.  I have been talking about our tour for 2 years and we finally made it happen this summer.  We left #bassethoundtown on June the 5th after many hours of planning.  By many, I mean MANY!!!

I could hardly believe we were on our way.

The Mayor Daisy Lynn was all packed up along with a large amount of Lily Books and marketing packages.  Part of the planning was scheduling marketing stops along the way.  I guess you could say we were a well oiled machine!!!  (With lots of potty stops;)

It cracks me up howl organized we were heading out.  At certain times during the tour it looked like we were fleeing the scene…

Our first stop of the trip was just an overnight in Knoxville.  We do not like to drive more than about 4 to 5 hours so that is a lot of dog friendly lodging and dining.  All of it will be documented and reviewed on #bassethoundtown.  I will share with TripAdvisor, various facebook pages I run, and some other dog friendly sites on the web.  I did too much #PPP  which stands for proper, prior, planning not to share with others like us who travel with their dog and look for affordable and safe options.  On another note – it seems to me that affordable is a bit overstated.  Wow!!!  The costs of lodging is really getting out of control.

First stop –

Knoxville, TN – we barely knew yee…We got up early, had our breakfast and rolled down the road to Asheville, NC – So pretty we planned on a 2 day stay!

BLOOMFIELD, Ky. (WDRB) – An 18-year-old man is in jail after authorities say his plan to burglarize a Nelson County home was thwarted by a Basset Hound named Pig.

The Nelson County Sheriff’s Office says it happened around 4:30 Saturday morning at a home on Goodloe Avenue in Bloomfield.

Chris Stevens and his wife Heather were asleep Saturday morning when their dog Pig began barking near the door to their 13-year-old daughter’s room.

“Usually she (Pig) doesn’t just bark for any reason,” Chris Stevens said. “So my wife got up to go see what she was barking at.”

Stevens says once his wife was in the hallway to see what Pig was barking at, a man’s arm appeared to be coming from inside their daughter’s room trying to ‘shush’ the dog.

“Of course she screamed,” Stevens said of his wife. “I jumped up, grabbed my weapon. I walked right into his face; I mean literally, I was face to face with him.”

Stevens said once the person inside their home saw the gun, he immediately began to comply with commands. Luckily, the Steven’s daughters were in Chicago at the time visiting family.

“He went through her dresser drawers and ransacked a few things in there,” Stevens said.

Stevens held the suspect at gunpoint for around 20 minutes he said, before the Nelson County Sheriff’s office arrived to arrest the man.

18-year-old Garrett Harlan Inghram was arrested and charged with 2nd degree burglary. It’s believed that he entered the house through a window leading to the bedroom.

“He was dressed all in black,” Stevens described. “Black pants, black hoodie, black gloves, black backpack.”

But for Stevens, he said the real hero and the reason the situation didn’t escalate further was his dog Pig.

“If it wasn’t for her, I don’t know what would have happened, I truly don’t,” he said.

End of Article…

Wow – who knows why this JackA$$ was attempting home invasion but in KY we have a horrible heroin problem.  Thank goodness for Pig.  I think that Daisy Lynn would do the same thing.  While we were on the book tour a man came out on the balcony next to us to take pictures of the sunset and when Daisy Lynn saw him she started a very low growl.  In all of our travels she had NEVER growled at anyone.  I totally trust her instincts.

Be careful resident. Be careful…

More loving Pig later…Cat, Daisy Lynn, (Chaps and Emma ATB watching over all of us…)
