You are invited to our ECLIPSE party!!!

August 21st, 2017 - 8:08 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Eclipse Lovers…Yes, you are invited to our very first ever eclipse party!  It started out with our eclipse candle holder.  Isn’t it cute?  You put a little candle behind it and the rays glow.  So apropo!!!

IMG_2740

We decided early on that we were not going to view the eclipse with those paper glasses.  Just made us a bit too nervous so we did the viewing on TV…Plus, not trusting that Daisy Lynn would not look up we stayed inside her herz…

IMG_2717

It was fun to see the first version live in Oregon…

IMG_2720

Daisy Lynn was very interested in the total eclipse of her heart – EXTRA TREATS!!!

IMG_2722

We were at the grocery store yesterday and decided to pick up some local, fan favorite BBQ.  It’s called Eli’s.  Of course I had to doctor it up and make it better than it already is…

IMG_2726

If you didn’t know, Hopkinsville KY, (4 hours from Bassethoundtown) was in the main path of the total eclipse so that was our main attraction.  Here it is…

Bassethoundtown only achieved 91% totality…It got weirdly darkish but you can’t tell from this picture…

IMG_2731

Right on schedule at 2:29, a glass of wine is fine!!!

We had a wonderful party and can’t wait til the next eclipse – I think they said it is in 2024.

More loving BBQ and totality later…Cat, Grandma, Daisy Lynn (Chaps and Emma ATB under a rainbow eclipse…)

The Lily Book Tour in Florida – Blog 3 of ___

August 18th, 2017 - 1:01 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and going on the Lily Book Tour Lovers.  I am so happy to have this blog and to keep track of everything we did on the tour because it is so easy to forget…and I don’t want to forget…It was so much fun.  Lauderdale By The Sea is so cute and very quaint during the week but it turns into a real party town on the weekend.  Not ideal for us but we had the whole week to enjoy the town without the weekenders flocking to it…

IMG_2029

This is the town center that leads right down to the beach.  We made our way down in the morning so we could get some great pictures…

IMG_9778

IMG_2027

There is also a pier that you can stroll down and it’s dog friendly.

IMG_2036

Our condo is behind Grandma about 4 blocks down the beach…

IMG_2039

It’s called Anglins Fishing Pier.  The best part of the pier is they have a restaurant.  We love it.

IMG_2041

It was called the Organic Beach Cafe!  OK!  I’m in!!!

IMG_2054

I could be happy eating lunch here everyday.  It was kinda strange howl ever…Daisy Lynn was welcomed with open arms the first time we went and then the second time the manager got all “is this a service dog” on us.  What?  Very confusing so I would suggest that you might bring a dog or not.  Seems to depend on who is in charge that day.  The manager finally let us stay after some negotiating…LOL

IMG_2058

Another place to eat that is EXTREMELY POPULAR is Aruba.

IMG_2031

We only went once and it was just too packed but it was on the weekend.  Right on the beach.  Our food was just OK.

We love our LBTS…I am dreaming of that crab cake as I type…and that wine, not to mention the sea…

More hoping to go back soon later…Cat, Grandma, Daisy Lynn, (Chaps and Emma ATB laying by the rainbow ocean…)

Announcing a new Lily Book Tour Goal…

August 15th, 2017 - 8:08 pm KY Time

Howllow Fellow Basset Hound and Lily Book Tour Lovers…It is Daisy Lynn’s goal, as the Mayor of bassethoundtown, to send a Lily Book to at least one public library in every state.  We are starting with this library.

Knoxville

Knoxville, TN was actually the first stop on our Lily Book Tour in June but it was just a quick overnight.  We departed early in the morning so I did not have time to drop off a Lily Book.  So Knoxville – please welcome Lily to your public library!!!

Do you want me to send a Lily Book to your public library?  Just put the address in the comment section and I will send it with an acknowledgement in your name…

“I FEEL THE NEED TO READ”…

More loving howl benevolent our Mayor is later…Cat, Daisy Lynn, (Chap and Emma at the rainbow Library ATB…)

The Lily Book Tour in Florida – Blog 2 of __

August 10th, 2017 - 8:08 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and traveling with us through Florida Lovers.  Not sure howl many blog posting this will take because we sure did a lot!!!  We got up Sunday morning and decided to just drive around and get familiar with Lauderdale by the Sea.  This little town is right next door to Fort Lauderdale and about an hour away from Palm Beach.  Grandma and Grandpa used to come here a lot so Grandma knows all the ends and ours….

But first…

We went and took a look at our back yard for the week…

IMG_9757

What a way to start your day…Hey, hey, hey!

Before we walked around we decided to drive around.  Interestingly enough we wound up in Palm Beach our first day.

This is a spectacular drive and one not to be missed if you can make it happen.

From Commercial Boulevard, head east until you hit the Pier, then turn left onto N Ocean Drive (a.k.a.: A1A). From here amaze yourself and enjoy the beauty north to Palm Beach.  It takes about an hour or more depending on if you stop or have lunch.

A1A from LBTS to Palm Beach

It was Sunday so we breezed up there and the views…OMDog the cities you pass through and the views of the ocean past the zillion dollar mansions is so pretty.  Of course we passed Mara Lago.  Thankfully Trump was not there.

Palm Beach was sleepy and shut down so we just pulled right up and parked on Worth Avenue.

IMG_9765

This shopping at its high dollar extreme.  It is Wayyyyyyyyyyyy over our reach but we love the window shopping.  We decided to come back in a few days and check it out.  The drive alone is worth a second trip…

IMG_9770

Snapped this on the way home…

winterbeachhouse

Just a winter beach house…

Speaking of which – Here is our little beach house…

Happy hour anyone?

IMG_2018

The balcony was all glass so Daisy Lynn could really watch over the residents at our satellite location.

See that path?  It is one of the public paths and had a fair amount of traffic aka dogs!  hahahahaha –

Daisy Lynn was in heaven…

IMG_2013

Yes, we all were…

More loving our Villa by the Sea later…Cat, Grandma, Daisy Lynn (Chaps and Emma ATB laying on rainbow beach towels…)

I am totally obsessed with this shell looking like a basset hound ear!!!

August 6th, 2017 - 7:07 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and totally obsessed lovers…OMD!!!  I cannot believe howl much this shell look like the Mayor’s ear!!!

IMG_2641

Grandma and I are working on our next sculpture project.  I picked up this shell on Atlantic Beach, North Carolina and like I said, I am obsessed with it!

IMG_2642

It is the inspiration for a basset hound sculpture…

IMG_2651

Close up…

IMG_2652

Another shot…

IMG_2665

I really need to find another shell that has a similar look and feel to it…

I hear the sea calling our names…

More loving when the sea speaks (I am all ears) later…Cat, Grandma, Daisy Lynn, (Chaps and Emma ATB listening with long rainbow ears…)

After 2 years of planning & researching-Villa Seaward D!!! Florida Blog 1 of __

August 5th, 2017 - 10:10 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Lauderdale by the Sea Lovers…Well, we finally made it to our Florida home away from home for a week of Work and Pleasure.  Of course the Lily Book Tour was first on our minds but that means it was time to hit the hippest and coolest places on the Galt Ocean Mile and beyond for the tour!!!

But first – Villa SeaWard D!!!!

IMG_2020

Villa D is one of 3 condos that are for rent in this building.  There are 4 condos, 1 belongs to the owner, (lucky duck).  Yep, but we were the lucky ones for the next 7 days at our ocean front Villa.  Yes, Oceanfront and we even have our own exclusive, private beach.  Dogs are not allowed on the main beach so we got Daisy Lynn her own private beach.  Yes, you heard me right…hehehehe

VSprivatebeach

More about this later…we have a week!!!

We just unloaded the Basset Hauling Vehicle and by that time we were ready for happy hour and dinner so we set off in search of dog friendly dining.  BINGO –

Mulligans is a 10 minute walk, (for people without basset hounds about a 5 minute walk;)

mulligan-s-beach-house

mulligans_outside

You walk right up and park yourself for the some of the best food of our trip.  Of course the bombardment of Daisy Lynn was non stop if she was on the outside of the table so we tried to keep her over out of view so we could eat!!!

Unfortunately, we did not get any pictures of us here.  That’s OK, you get the drift from these I found online.

So, after dinner we made our way home.  To unpack and settle in.  Tomorrow is Sunday.  The day will plan itself…

More loving a sweet summer stroll home later – Villa D, (as in Daisy Lynn) hahaha…Cat, Grandma, Daisy Lynn (Chaps and Emma ATB loving exclusive private rainbow beaches…)

Daisy Lynn took us on a picnic this weekend – Lake Isabella Park – Hamilton County OH

August 2nd, 2017 - 11:11 am KY Time

Howllow Fellow Basset Hound and Lake Isabella Lovers…I had to share this stunning picture of our very own Mayor Daisy Lynn Rudert on her picnic blanket at

Lake Isabella Park in Hamilton County OH.

DLpicnicblanket

It was just the perfect setting for this glorious picture.  The sunlight mottled and the weather even had a crispness in the air coming off the lake.

It is only about 25 minutes from bassethoundtown main location and very near to where nephew Romeo lives…

Good thing we had finished our lunch when 2 pit bulls showed up with teenagers that could not handle them.  We packed up and left.  Better safe than sorry.  I don’t trust that type of dog or the owners who clearly cannot control them.

LIDL4

We still had a perfect day…

More loving the lake later…Cat, Grandma, Daisy Lynn, (Chaps and Emma ATB very safe…)

Welcome to Floridia – CoCo Beach – Blog 2 of 2:)

August 1st, 2017 - 8:08 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and CoCo Beach lovers…Wow – to wake up to this is just a dream come true.

This is about the same shot as the full moon and thunderstorm pic of last night.

IMG_9750

Of course the first thing Daisy Lynn and I did was to open our balcony door and let in all of that delicious salt air!!!

It’s almost sunrise time!!!

IMG_1999

“Look Mommy, Look!!!”

IMG_1996

IMG_1983

OK, I could set up my office and bassethoundtown right here!!!

Oh, I did!  hehehe

IMG_1989

OK, let’s go potty sweetheart.  Bless her heart she was so excited that she did not even want to go out to potty.

IMG_2002

See this grass area?  It is all for doggies and their potty time.  You can’t see it but there are bag stations set up all around for clean up.  To the right of this picture is the public walkway to the beach.  Our rooms are on the fourth floor, the 2 end rooms to the right.  Just perfect – the view was amazing.  The only bad thing was that people were allowed to smoke on their balconies which was a huge problem for a few hours the evening we got there.  Smoking – what a disgusting habit.  We noticed that more and more hotels are going No Smoking on the entire property.  Now that is great!!!

Well dear and fellow residents we have a big day ahead of us.  We are off to spend a week in Lauderdale by the Sea, FL.  It’s about a 4 hour drive but who cares?

The song of the sea breeze is in our long ears now…

IMG_1995

Thank you Lily for being the driving force…

#lilybooktour #bassethoundtownfltrip

More loving the thought of a trip well planned later…Cat, Grandma, Daisy Lynn (Chaps and Emma ATB with Lily – ears flying…)

Welcome to Floridia – The Lily Book Tour has arrived – CoCo Beach, Blog 1 of 2…

July 30th, 2017 - 6:06 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Florida Lovers…Well, I have been planning this particular Lily Book Tour for about 2 years.  Yes, 2 years.  Can you say…PROPER PRIOR PLANNING?  #PPP!!!

We have taken many other mini tours around our region but nothing this extensive.  We were gone a total of about 1 month with so many stops.  We left Savannah with our picnic lunch packed up from the Treylor Park.  Remember our crab sliders and fried avocado?  Well, he had enough for our lunch.  (#PPP;)

IMG_9741

We finally made it!!!

IMG_9743

First things first…I went into the welcome center and got the famous cups of orange juice!!!  Just the same as when I was a kid.  We never missed the Florida Welcome Station with the OJ!!!  Daisy Lynn even got a taste and loved it.

This was not the time to linger over a picnic so we gobbled down our sliders in the basset hauling vehicle and pulled out pronto…

CoCo Beach here we come…

Now this is the ultimate happy hour! Ahhhhhhhhhhh – The Mayor’s first time seeing the ocean…it was so cute.  She was so captivated by the sound, smells, and waves…

We had Ocean Front connecting rooms at the LaQunita!  Such a great place to stay and I cannot wait to review it on Trip Advisor.

IMG_1975

CoCo Beach is not as dog friendly as other cities we visited.  You can see the pier in pic and they do not allow dogs.  I knew that going in.  I picked CoCo Beach for it’s name (lol) and just to see it for the night.  I can’t imagine we will ever go back but we really enjoyed the rooms, the views and the full moon.

IMG_1971

It was really amazing that night.  There was a full moon and a thunderstorm off in the distance.  I zoomed in and you can see a blurry bit of both.  It was soooooo cool!

IMG_1979

So off to bed we went…dreaming of Jeannie and tomorrow…

More full moon memories later…Cat, Grandma, Daisy Lynn (Chaps and Emma ATB proper prior planning tomorrow…)

Have a nice day fellow residents!

July 25th, 2017 - 9:09 am KY Time

Howllow Fellow Basset hound and good day lovers…What a nice morning we are having!  We woke up to 60 degree weather so we flung all of the windows open.

Daisy Lynn Child

Daisy Lynn arranged this vase of flowers for her Grandma!  Can you see Daisy Lynn on the vase?  We commissioned this from a friend and fellow artist.  I will do a more detailed blog on it later but for now…

Have a great day!

More loving the windows open in the July later…Cat, Daisy Lynn, (Chaps and Emma ATB with the windows always open…;)
