Basset Hound Shot in Chest (bb gun) in Long Prairie, Minn – Healing nicely – looking for shooter

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and hoping they found who shot this hound lovers……

This just in from the basset hound wires and I thought my dear readers would want to read this article and view the video on the TV’s website.

LONG PRAIRIE, Minn. – After her shock collar battery went dead Daisy got loose in Long Prairie on July 18th. When she was finally found she had a bullet in her chest.

“My daughter comes running over and tells me, Daisy has been shot,” Daisy’s owner Erika Breitbach said.

This all started after Daisy’s shock collar went dead Sunday. Daisy wasted no time to hit the town of Long Prairie. She even stopped to grab some grub.

“The chief at the fire department, got into his house, and ate some left over ribs,” Erika said laughing.

The next time Daisy was seen, she was laying in the neighbor’s yard with a BB bullet near her heart.

What happened in between is still unknown. Long Prairie police officials declined to comment on the ongoing investigation but did lay down guidelines to follow when stray animals make their way into your yard.

“Everybody knows, dogs like to run,” Long Prairie Police Officer Roger Lowe explained. “If you have a stray dog or a stray cat, contact the police department.”

Long Prairie authorities say the first move is to always contact police, but if that doesn’t work, there are times to use force.

“When you feel threatened, if the dog is growling at you or being very aggressive towards you then you can. But you have to use your judgment,” Officer Lowe said.

When Daisy was loose she was only seen in the city of Long Prairie which adds a new dimension to this incident according to Long Prairie police.

“Within the city limits, you cannot fire a projectile,” Lowe continued. “A BB gun, air gun, soft gun, something like that.”

Anyone with any information on the shooting is urged to contact the Long Prairie Police Department at 320-732-2156.

End of article…

Can you imagine? Yes I can. I think my Lily was shot by a bb gun just prior to being rescued by me. There are some real mean cruel people amongst us.

More hoping they find the creep that did this later….Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

At least there is a happy ending to this story. We just installed new wire for our invisible fence – nothing is too good for our hounds and keeping them safe.

It is amazing that so many people will shoot a dog even if it’s not vicious. We rescued a dog that was shot with a 22. I had it removed when he was neutered and it was smashed in on one side! The doc said that it probably hit a very hard spot on his head (lucky him) then it migrated down his neck and that’s where I felt it. He said he was a very lucky dog to be alive. I knew he was shot (long story) but it took me a while to find the bullet to have it removed. It wasn’t causing problems but I can’t imagine how that sharp thing felt in his neck!

    I hate people.

Poor Daisy!! I hope they get the jerk that shot her and string him up by his nebberminds:( I am not an advocate of electric fences at all–it keeps the dogs in but doesn’t keep other animals out and that can present a danger; and then something horrific and, quite frankly, irresponsible, like this happens–the battery dies and now the dog runs free!!

I have a few ideas of what should be done once they find the ….. but its not a nice thing to say gr….. To shot a animal or to poison a animal just fires me up. We had our labxhus. killed by poison. Plus had cats shot for no reason. I like the hanging tree. Glad she is ok. Poor thing:(

I had Gus in for an Xray while back cause he had a bad tummy ache. The vet came out and said he had 6 BBs in him. They have caused him no problem but if I ever find out who did it,well this resident might be wearing stripes.
    Get well Daisy.
