Slain Arizona judge devoted to family and basset hounds:(
Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and those who join me in mourning Judge Roll as well as the other poor souls victimized that AZ day.
Roll is survived by his wife, Maureen, three sons, and five grandchildren. Roll walked his two basset hounds around the neighborhood every morning, and seemed inseparable from his wife.
“When they were around each other,” Massee said, “They were both just sparkling. They were in the presence of their best friend.”
Roll was the kind of man who had the same secretary for 20 years, said hi to all his neighbors, and stopped to talk to them when he walked his two basset hounds in the mornings.
“He was just a neighbor,” said George Kriss, 70, adding that the last time he saw Roll a few weeks ago, “he had blue jeans on and just a very normal shirt and was hanging onto a couple of leashes.”
About a dozen coach buses brought judges who knew Roll over the years to the furneral.
Roll’s three sons were among the pallbearers, and family members and two federal judges gave readings.
His funeral comes a day after the youngest victim, Christina Taylor Green, was eulogized, also at the same church, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton.
The service ended with a rendition of “When Irish Eyes Are Smiling.”

You got that right. Damn shame. Things are just so very scary in this day and age. I think our many means and ease of communication sometimes works against us. People see what others do and you have copycats out there that do the same thing. I’m sure there will be many more mass murders in the future. Just makes me want to hide under a rock. I just want to get away from people sometimes. You just don’t know who to trust. Very sad.
Judge Roll sounds like a man greatly admired and loved. What happened was so tragic, I don’t think people recover from something like this.
