Emma was limping today on her back right paw:(

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and worried about Emma lovers…..

We had a bit of a scare today when Emma began limping, pretty badly. It really scared us because of her back issues. It might have happened during a run for treats today but we can’t really put our fingers on it.

Grandma and I went over every fraction of her paw to see if we could find the problem. Nothing….She did not even whimper when we pressed a little bit. I even had out the trusty magnifying glass to see if I could find a foreign object. NOTHING!

So, Chaps came to the rescue. What a wonderful boy!

She is all tucked in now and I will update her lovers soon…..

More not too worried about it, later….Cat, Chaps and Emma

Looks like the Mayor has it all under control. You don’t have to worry. Sometimes they just hit themselves or get sore from walking more than usual. I hope she takes a nap and wakes up fine. Keep us posted.

Poor Emma?!:( A few weeks ago Harley (who is 8 yrs. old) came down stairs limping on one of his legs. I was so upset–I thought arthritis, a caught nail on something…? I disappeared the next day. However, this has happened several times since, but again, it always disappears. I have surmised that, almost certainly, his leg has fallen asleep! It happens to us all the time, why not the doglets? Maybe that is all it is?? All paws crossed that it is nothing serious…

MEDICAL UPDATE RE: EMMA, THE MEDICAL MIRACLE!

I am please to report that our baby Emma is back to normal this morning. Thank DOG! Now I am pretty sure it was what I was hoping, just a sprain.

Mary, I know what you mean about arthritis. Chaps seems to be getting a touch of it now. I have noticed over the past few months an increase in the moaning and groaning when he gets up. Poor old man.

I was hoping that Emma’s back leg just was asleep but it lasted too long.

Grandma called her out little ox this morning! Too Cute!

I am so happy to hear the Our Emma is back to her usual sweet self. I think as we all get older we are inclined to be a little stiff in the morning.

I love how the Mayor protects and cares about Our Emma.

Hip,hip, hoorah! I knew she’d be ok. Emma is a tough girl!

Cat, look in to getting glucosamine for Chaps. I get the human form at Wal-Mart and it’s really helped Rugs and Ozzie. I just give 1/2 a tablet to each. I may have to start giving to Jethro soon but for now he seems ok. He’s just slow. Ha!

Cindy – I was just wondering about that. I am so glad you mentioned it. I will most certainly start that for the Mayor! Thank you!

Cat, I get the one that has glucosamine and chrondrotin(not sure about the spelling). I’m not sure if the chron is much help but both are supposed to be good for joints and bones. Maybe you need both to help the best. I really don’t know. Ask your vet about it before you give. I’m sure it’s fine cuz I wouldn’t give to my dogs if it wasn’t but I’d feel better if you ok’d it with your vet. Especially due to the status of the recipient. We don’t want anything to happen to our Mayor! And you’ll need to know what strength would be good for him. I got the doggie version at first so I just went by what strength that was and replaced with human stuff cuz it’s cheaper.

hahahaha – The status of the Mayor! That is too cute. I will check with my vet today. I want the Mayor on that stuff pronto!

Lois – I will check that out as well. I have never heard of SOD boswellia. What a great tip. Thank you so much. When short legs get older they need some help! I really want to get Chaps the help he needs.

Lois, about how much does that cost and where do you get it? I may try that out if it’s cheaper. What I’m doing is working for mine but I’m always looking for a bargain.

cal vet supply on line & it is about $26.99 for 500 tablets

i tried it after i read about it on the drool…i haven’t noticed any side effects with him at all & i recommended it to ivy’s owners as well (she is a 100 lb pointer/st bernard mix) & they said she has improved too…she was achy & barely able to move after playing at the park

That comes out to be about the same as I’m paying now. Maybe I’ll try that and see if it’s better. I know it takes about 4 weeks for the other stuff to start working. Or that you’ll notice a difference.

Hello all, love the names – “Jethro” has me smiling, that is thee perfect Basset name! I have recently started limping/favouring my back right leg. My human Nancy is seeking info on Basset hip/leg/knee injuries and stumbled onto this site. I am a one year old male, red & white and my humas first BH. My Momma Nancy is new to short thick hipped dog legs and cannot figure out what happened to me. Anyway, we are going to that animal hospital place monday to get checked out, but untill then I am wondering how I can possibly remain still. Any ideas on my injury or what to do? Jethro – Harley – Chaps – Mayor – you boys sound like distinguished {sp?} fella’s. Like jet pilots!
    I shall stop rambling.
