We made it through the night!

April 20th, 2011 - 11:11 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and making it through the night lovers…..Well, all heck broke loose round about 1:00am this morning. The tornado sirens were going off, all networks had their weather people talking a mile a minute, and the red blob was getting closer! My e-mail was going bonkers with dings sending forecast alerts every minute or so. It was really strange. Then the phone rang and it was Grandma. We made a decision to huddle in my place for a few more seconds and then we went to the basement landing between brick walls.

We decided not to go down the steps because Chaps was woozey from his storm pill and DoG knows we did not need any broken bones. I did not have my camera in the hallway but here is a drawing of our set up.

We sat there for about 10 minutes. The kids were so good. I had the TV up really loud and we heard the weather man give the all clear for Ft. Thomas. Wow! That was one wild ride!

More thunderstorms later this week…..Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

I have only had to endure a couple of really bad storms and floods in my life, so I know how frightening they can be.

I am so glad you are all in the clear.

I just heard on the noon news that there was a touch down the next county over. Why do these weather events happen in the middle of the night?

Isn’t that the truth? Every hurricane I’ve been in hit in the middle of the night. Maybe the temps are better for storms at night? Who knows. So glad everyone is ok. I hope the county over is ok too. I hate seeing anyone having to get beat up by mother nature.

Poor Chaps’ eyes sure are glassy. You can tell he has a buzz!

Glad to hear all is well in BHT. Storms have been intense through many parts of the country this spring. It is snowing here today.

The more the atmosphere is heated up during the day, combined with cooling and humidity of the evening, creates a perfect environment for severe weather. While severe thunderstorms/tornadoes can occur around sunrise, it is the least likely time of day for such storms.
