Want some sweet corn for dinner?

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and sweet corn lovers.  Oh howl I love sweet corn.  I like to fry corn with red onions, parsley, mushrooms, butter, and lots and lots of pepper.

So as my corn was frying I was looking through some old time pictures and came across this corny shot.  Actually, it is really cool.  Check out the sweet beehive!  I was going to a 50s party and I fortunately had a hair dresser as a friend. This picture was taken back in 1980 I think. Look at the yellow corn cast to the picture.  That tells you it is really old.

Wow, I was kind of corn dishy!  I love this picture and I had totally forgotten about it. My hair looks like a corn cob!

But it reminded me of this YouTube I saw a long time ago.  I always thought it was cute.

I know Emma would do that.  I would have let her and Chaps have some but I put too much pepper on it.  Dang it!

But corn oh corn it was dang good!

More wishing beehives would come back in style later….Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

OMG, Cat! You are stunningly gorgeous!!! You look like a movie star…Love the hairdo, so retro:)

YUMMMM, corn on the cob! We have been regularly eating sweet corn from the local farmstand and fried tomatoes:) I prefer them green (in true West Virginia fashion!), but Philip grew up with fried red ones;) That’s been dinner once a week since the season started:) As Andy Griffith would say: “mmmMMMMMMMMMM mmmmmmmmm”:)

Cat – what do you mean you looked good “back in the day”? You look mah-velous everyday!

Sweet corn season hasn’t even started up here in the UP of Michigan yet. The farmers at our local farmers’ market say we may have some next week.

Sweet sweet corn. That was all I had for dinner. I had 2 ears and I gave Grandma 3 ears. Wonder why they call them ears?

    Cat,

You look stunning in that photo. I remember when my sisters wore beehives and french braids (up doos).

I have never had fried corn on the cob, we just boil it in some salt water and a dash of sugar, and then smother it in butter.

    That video is great.

Oh my, Cat, you look beautiful! And please don’t wish those beehives back. Yours actually isn’t as big as some were. My Mom wore one that must have stood 12 inches on top of her head. Like Marge Simpson!

I like corn on the cob cooked on the pit the best. But ever since I burned it once, Ronald won’t let me fix it on the pit anymore. Hehehehehe

Cat – hubba hubba! What a stunner! And you are still a stunner! I have some great photos from the 80s, too – one with me in a big mohawk and safety pins covering every square inch of my shirt. You look way cuter than THAT!

The corn looks delicious! We are just getting our sweet corn now, although most folks around here smoke and dry it in an horno. You then stew the dried corn and it has a wonderful nutty flavor.

This was such a fun post!

Thanks guys for all of the compliments. I forgot to say that my younger sister went to the party with me and her b-hive was higher. After we got to the party it kept leaning and I kept trying to kept it standing up. We were laughing so hard. I think I remember counting over 100 bobbie pins in each hive….
