Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and stitches out lovers…Yes, we were sure glad to get those old stitches out.
It was such a nice day. After we got home we pulled all of the tomatoes off our one and only plant!
So pretty, and I mean Emma!
Here comes lil’ stitchless boy….
Ahhhh….Shimlette had a light nail trimming and she thinks she should eat her dinner early.

Well, Grandma was left with the maters and without her helpers.
That is until Emma came back out and started barking for her to get inside and give them their coming home from the vet treat!
Grandma french fries please….no green tomatoes!

Look at all them maters! One plant? Wow. I’m jealous! It was just way too hot for tomatoes this summer in my area. I got some but not as many as I hoped for. I heard a neat tip on the garden line radio. You cut about 18 inches off the top of some good looking tomato plants that have slowed down or are no longer producing then replant the tops. You cut off the leaves on the bottom 1/2 of the top, 6 to 8 inches, and leave the stems. Roots will grow where you cut off the leaves. You replant the top at a 45 degree angle. They will eventually stand upright and start producing tomatoes again. I had to use fertilizer all year this year but hey, I’m getting fall tomatoes now from the tops of a plant! The weather is much better this fall and I could kick myself for not being more serious about fall tomatoes and planting more. I really didn’t think they’d do this good. The best part is, I didn’t have to run to the store to buy more plants! They’re free!
Cindy, I am going to print and save this for next year. Our plant froze at the top after a hard frost. We did have all of those pretty tomatoes waiting for us today. I sure hope they turn or I will try some fried green tomatoes! That sounds really good!

5 plants…i had 3 cherry maters…someone who shall remain nameless stuffed himself silly all summer tho with a bumper crop tho of maters. i hear the heirlooms were especially good…i how ever would not know. damn him.

I LOVE fried green tomatoes! I’m sure the bigger one’s will turn without a problem. It could take a week but they should turn.
And by the way, I’m so glad Chaps got his stitches out and everything went well.
I can just taste those fried green tomatos from when I lived in Dothan. I miss them. YumYum
My parents enjoyed the yellow/orange tomatoes. They are less acidic than the Beefsteak tomatoes, and the plants were quite hearty.
