Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and loving this statue lovers.  Well, I am this statue’s biggest fan.  I fell in love with it the moment I saw it.

I have been blogging about this bronze basset statue since May of 2008!

I was so fortunate to be able to hug the bronze hounds at the 2011 Basset Hound Nationals.

Well, the other night I received a note from a long time supporter and fellow artist of the sculpture.  He said….

“Cat,
The artist who has the three large bronze Bassets has lowered his price by more than $10,000. He has some family medical issues to cover so he’ll sell the pieces for $15,000.”

Well, I am very sorry the artist, Pat Kennedy, has some family medical issues that he must address.  I am reporting this price reduction as I have reported most everything about this wonderful, magnificent, stunning piece of art.

Good Luck to Pat and his family….

More loving this piece later…Cat, Chaps and Emma

I guess they think you would be the one to buy it. Wow. I am sorry for the artist too but $15,000 just isn’t an amount that most people have to spend on a statue. I hope he finds a buyer that will cherish and take care of them properly.

I wish there was a shelf size version of this wonderful sculpture.

As for Chaps’ inquiry this is a leap year (February 29, 2012), so its an extra day of treats for Bassets everywhere.

Also, I couldn’t believe there wasn’t a Basset in the Best of Breed contenders at the Westminster Dog Show. Since there wasn’t a Basset (I think the judges and breeders are threatened and intimated by Bassets.) for the Best in Show competition, I was rooting for the dalmation. I thought that was a sharp looking dog, but a Pekingese that’s little more than a generic rodent.

Cindy – I agree with you. 15K is too much. The original price was 27K. No way. I think pieces like this are bought by parks or cities. There is a bronze basset head about the size of a puppy going for 500 bucks on an auction site run by the BHCA. It has been on the site for about 5 months. No takers. I saw it at the Nationals and it is very nice but not nice enough to buy. People are not buying right now.

Who has 15K? NO ONE! Sorry….
