DASUQUIN – do you give diamond chewies to your elder hound?

July 16th, 2012 - 8:08 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and question lovers…I was wondering if any of the residents give their elder hounds DASUQUIN?

Well, Grandma and I have decided to try it.  The Mayor has arthritis and I want to help him anyway I can.

DASUQUIN is EXPENSIVE$$$

This bag of 84 chewies cost 95 dollars!  If it helps I am rushing to the bank to buy what Grandma and I now call “diamond chewies”!

So, do any residents give diamonds to their hounds?

It is so funny when we give him one. We watch with baited breath.  He does like them but hopefully they like him.

So let me know…

More hoping the diamond chewies work later…Cat, Chaps and Emma ATB

PS – I think I can find them cheaper.

PPS – We are still going to go to Dr. Leick for adjustments.  That does help.

Haven’t tried this yet. I’ve tried glucosamine with chrondrotin and glucosamine with MSM. The glucosamine with chrondrotin didn’t seem to help much. Trying the glucosamine with MSM now. It seems to work better but still not as good as rimadyl. At least this dasuquin is about 1/2 the price of rimadyl. Let me know if it works. If it does, I’ll try it on Jethro. He seems to be the only one around here that has arthritis.

Dear Cat and sweet Mayor Chaps,
We have used Meloxicam (1/2 tab. according to the weight) and have given Methocarbomol as needed for the arthritis. These were prescribed through the Vet. They helped him and made him pretty spunky. Perhaps you can mention it to the doctor next time you take Chaps. They were not cheap but they worked.

Loved the Mayor surrouned by the “blasen” so cute and remindedd me of your story.

Kiss the boy for me and thanks for all the slobbers!

Rimadyl worked the best for our Old English Sheepdog Spot ATB. It kept Spot up and moving for several years. Expensive but worth it. We have been fortunate that the hounds have not had arthritis problems. Only the best for Chaps so I hope these new “treats” Work well for him!

I haven’t heard of this brand at all, but I will see if I can find a less expensive price for you.

    Hi Cat,

For my dogs, I found that Zuck’s Treats worked well for arthritis and they don’t cost nearly as much. About $6 at the health food store, but much cheaper on line.
I tried glucosamine with chondrotin and that didn’t work for my dogs either.

Do the best you can for Chaps. We love our Mayor.

    Mary in TX.

What type of Zucks treats Mary? Is there a name for them other than Zucks? Thanks so much!

sod boswellia. its what i use with buster. swear by that stuff. i use it with sdally too on her “backwards” front legs when she plays to hard. seems to take the pain away.

i have used this since he was paralyzed & i have no complaints. i showed it to my vet & he researched it & began using it with his bulldogs. he then recommends it to others & patients. cheap enough, no side effects i can see..my only problem is that altho it is supposed to have that yummy liver flavor my guys won’t take it unless it comes with a dab of peanut butter. such is life.

    Hi Cat,

Can’t figure out why in the world glucosamine chondroitin with avocado, soybean and decaffinated tea would be so expensive…

There used to be a product called Knox Nutrajoint for people that was available and used in Clinical trials. Very inexpensive.
